Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has decided to have a go at Birmingham over the clubs claim that the move for Robbie Keane failed because of the players wage demands.
Things looked to be going good, a Ā£6 million offer had been accepted by Tottenham and all the Keane and Blues had to do was sort out personal terms.
But that move broke down with Birmingham saying that they could not afford the player on the sort of money that he wanted.
Keane hit back by saying that the whole thing was orchestrated as a publicity stunt by the club and they never had any intension of signing him.
Now Redknapp, who wasn`t there at the time, has come out in defence of his player.
He said: 'There was never a deal with Birmingham.
'He never asked Birmingham for money. He never got around to discussing a deal with them so when they said they couldnāt meet his wage demands that was totally unfair on Robbie because he never made any demands. He never even spoke to them.
āI donāt see how the deal couldāve fallen down on wage demands when he didnāt make any. Thatās a strange one.ā

Youāre choosing to believe the way the story is reported, not the actual quotes that are on record which havenāt been contradicted by anyone.

I think theyāre now separate deals from my understanding of it. Theres rumours that the Suarez deal could be done in the next 48 hours, Ajax are said to have turned down a 15M offer and that Pool will raise it to 20M. Hard to know how solid these stories are though buts its pretty certain that Connolli met Suarezās agent in last few days.
There are so many rumours flying around about this transfer itās beyond a joke. The fee is the issue though it seems and Commoli is reported to be in Amsterdam negotiating.
