January Transfer Window 2011

Big money… didn’t Godín only join Atletico in the summer?

Couldn’t tell you.

Roman seems to have gotten interested in Chelsea again.

Yes, and he hasn’t been in their team of late even though he’s fit and available. Quite bizarre given how shit they defend and his great displays for Villarreal and Uruguay.

One of the reasons you stopped supporting them no doubt. What a rollercoaster six weeks you had though.

Indeed. It was the best of times and the worst of times.

Liverpool forward Ryan Babel has completed his move to Hoffenheim after signing a two-and-a-half-year contract, according to the German club.

The Reds accepted a fee for the Holland international, believed to be in the region of ÂŁ6million, last week but the deal appeared to be off up until late yesterday when the player flew out to finalise contract details.

“The 24-year-old striker signed on Tuesday a contract for two and a half years until June 30 2013 (plus an option for another year),” said a statement on Hoffenheim’s website.

“Ryan was our first-choice attacking player. He strengthens our squad also with his experience despite being only 24 years old,” said coach Marco Pezzaiuoli.

Manager Ernst Tanner added on the club’s website: "We are very proud to be able to sign in Ryan Babel an internationally-experienced player from a top club like Liverpool.

“We are convinced that he is a big gain for us with his character traits and his sporting qualities.”

The forward, who failed to realise his potential during just over three years at Anfield, is relishing a fresh start in the Bundesliga.

“I am looking forward to my new mission in Hoffenheim,” he said.

“My first impressions are absolutely positive. I hope now to be able to quickly get into the team.”

Babel was signed by former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez from Ajax for ÂŁ11.5million after impressing at the European Under-21 championships.

However, he struggled to hold down a regular place in the first team and when the opportunity arose it was usually out wide rather than in his favoured central position.

His performances were infuriatingly inconsistent for fans and in 91 Barclays Premier League appearances he scored just 12 times.

Babel fared better in European football, with nine goals in 38 appearances, but his record of 22 goals in a total of 146 games was not what was expected from a player regarded as one of Holland’s rising stars when he moved to England.

Daglish is obviously a stuffed shirt Mac, nothing else could possibly explain this

Dalglish did actually sat that in fairness.

Mac wouldnt let that stop him Farmer, he can be incredibly vindictive, even without drink, I now know how Runt felt on Sunday night :frowning:

Kevin Phillips could be joining Kevin Kilbane on loan at Huddersfield…

Newcastle and Villa have hit a deadlock in Steven Ireland’s move due to wage demands and how much each club is willing to pay

Great to see Adebayor continue to fail upwards, astonishing career path for him. Never thought I’d see the day City would be loaning players to RM

shocked to hear hes still only 26…

Suarez is to meet with Ajax today in a bid to persuade them to lower their asking price and allow him move to Liverpool.

Ferguson is doing his best to scuppers Adams move to Liverpool

If Liverpool buy Suarez it means Torres is off in the Summer, right?

Ferguson was a devious cunt last night alright

You are some numpty requoting retarded twitter and arse hole rag tag articles .

They play in two totally different postions. Why would they sell one when the other is brought in??

Now I could be wrong here, but do they not have the same agent? Why would he try so hard to get one in to the club
to get/ force the other out??

P.S

You are an utter cunt

Andrea Barzagli is on his way to Juve

Inter being linked with a move for Gianpaulo Pazzini

Good to have ‘you’ here ‘Bean’, I’ll humour ‘you’ for now.

I believe the signing of Suarez will see the beginning of the end for Torres at Liverpool.’ You’ believe the new owners are in a position to keep on Torres given the outlay on Suarez? Popular opinion would not agree. But then I was just asking, hence my question mark, none of us can be sure what will happen, not even Kenny Daglish who was proven a liar only a day or two ago when he told the media that Babbel would be going nowhere. If Kenny cant be sure what makes ‘you’ so sure ‘bean’?

Suarez is also a striker, which is the same position Torres played in the last time I checked. Granted they’re not the exact same kind of player, but then what player is the exact same to another player? Similar sure, but never the same.

As for why an Agent would want to move on his players, hmmmmmm, I couldnt POSSIBLY think why he would, I mean WHY would an agent want his player to move for a large transfer fee. I am truly at a loss to understand that.

Now if ‘you’ want to carry on the debate, log in under the other id ‘you’ usually use to post here like a good fella. Cheers.

Are you honestly suggesting that Kenny didn’t know about Bable ?? FFS… In pursuing Suarez the club harldy wanted to admit they had an extra 6m in the bag from this sale as they were looking to get him (Suarez) in as low as possible and force the sale quickly. This however did not transpire as Ajax are playing hardball…

Suarez is not an out and out striker. He plays behind or predominantly as a left attacking forward. This is where he has scored most of his goals from… It makes no sense that one is being brought in to replace the other when they play in totally different positions. If he is valued as Torres’ replacement, why then are the club so reluctant to pay the extra 5m Ajax are looking for??

Maybe Torres might manufacture his own move in time, but suggesting the new owners are ousting him for Suarez is ridiculous or that they both can’t be accomadated in the same team is farcical…

What popular opinion would suggest other wise ?? Is this your sources at play again ?

Getting near this time again for Robbie-

A (TRANSFER DEADLINE) DAY IN THE LIFE OF ROBERT DAVID KEANE (AGED 29)

12pm: Get up and eat hearty Irish breakfast. It’s going to be another long transfer deadline day chez Keane. I’ve been a massive fan of transfer deadline day all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin.

12.45pm: Mmm, that was tasty. I’ve been a massive fan of rashers, eggs, sausages, baked beans, black pudding, soda bread and black tea all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin.

1.30pm: Knock on lid of sunbed and ask Claudine where designer washbag is. She says she’ll pack it for me when she’s finished topping up her tan. She’s been a massive fan of UV rays, going back to when she was a kid growing up in Dublin.

1.35pm: Check tabloid websites to see which teams I’m being linked with. Ooh! Sunderland and the Queen’s Celtic. I haven’t played for either before, but like Wolves, Coventry, Inter, Dirty Leeds, Spurs and Liverpool, I’ve been a massive fan of both clubs all my life, going back to when I was kid growing up in Dublin.

1.50pm: Print off template of stock unveiling speech that’s served me so well down the years: “It’s absolutely fantastic, a real dream come true for me. I’ve been a [insert team name in here] fan all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin, and I always had a [insert team name in here] shirt on my back. So, to be here now as a [insert team name in here] player is incredible and I couldn’t be happier …”

2pm: Mr 10% hasn’t called, so knock on lid of sunbed to ask Claudine what I should do next. She says to check to see if there’s any reporters from Sky Sports News standing shivering outside the house. I’ve been a massive fan of Sky Sports News all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin.

2.05pm: Dash to window and look, but can’t see any reporters from Sky Sports News.

4pm: Remember to open curtains and see inquisitive face of shivering, microphone-wielding eejit in Sky Sports puffa jacket staring back at me. I’ve been a massive fan of Andy Burton all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin.

4.30pm: Get call from Mr 10% - the Queen’s Celtic have come in for me!!! That’s great news. I’ve been a massive fan of the Queen’s Celtic all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin.

4.35pm: Get on AA route-finder. 401.4 miles!?!?!? I can’t get there by the deadline at 5pm.

5.40pm: Ring Mr 10% to explain predicament. Apparently the transfer window in Scotland doesn’t close until midnight, so I’ve time to get a flight. A flight? I’ve been a massive fan of flying all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin.

5.45pm: Knock on lid of sunbed and tell Claudine we’re moving to Glasgow.

5.50pm: Orange arm emerges from sunbed holding Armani washbag containing cheese sandwiches and a Lucozade bottle full of cold tea. I’ve been a massive fan of packed lunch all my life going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin.

5.55pm: Leave house, step over frozen corpse of microphone-wielding man in Sky Sports puffa jacket. Drive to airport, get on plane.

9pm: Appear before press at Queen’s Celtic Park wearing green and white hoops, the colours of Queen’s Celtic who I’ve been a massive fan of all my life, going back to when I was a kid growing up in Dublin. “It’s absolutely unbelievable. I always wanted to play for the [Queen’s] Celtic and it works out well for both parties.”

9.05pm: Check fixture list. Next up it’s Kilmarnock away. I’ve been a massive fan of Kilma … actually no, I’ve never heard of them.

I didnt suggest they were willing to out Torres, I suggested that Torres might be off of his own volition. Suarez has done just fine up to this point in his career without playing beside Torres, I doubt it’d be a waste to buy him if Torres wasnt to be around come the start of next season.

You didnt refer to my point about why an agent would wish to arrange a move for his player?
