I’m guessing Farmer thinks this is a World Cup reference.

Hmmm… I just don’t really agree. Torres has the best goals per minute ratio in the EPL. Carroll has potential but not like a Rooney or someone who was prolific underage. There’s plenty to suggest he might just be a flash in the pan. And he’s very much overpriced, which I know you’re not concerned with but I don’t think he makes up the difference between Suarez and Torres.

It’s a risk anyway.

Liverpool still have glaring gaps in their team. Central midfield for one, which will not be solved by Charlie Adam in my view.

Central defence as well.

His ratio is class and he’s class. But his ratio is less impressive away from home, his attitude recently hasn’t been exemplary and he spends a reasonable amount of time injured (with Ngog as the backup). Think it’s a decent gamble. 35m is silly but there you go.

Huge problems. I don’t have an issue with them not spreading the cash around though, I just didn’t expect them to blow most of it on a man who is legally prohibited from living alone and who injured himself drinking jagerbombs. It’s been a strange day all round.

Can’t think of anyone in England Clarkey but the likes of M’Vila from Rennes at 20 years of age, already capped by France, or Matuidi from St Etienne at 23 also capped by France would be preferable to a player released by Rangers for 500k imo.
