Lucio left Juve today. Would be a decent short term signing for someone.
Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane has confirmed that a number of clubs are interested in his services during the MLS off-season.
But Keane, who spent January and February with Aston Villa on loan from LA Galaxy, scoring three goals in seven appearances, says he is currently nursing an Achilles injury.
He said: âI am going to rest up and get ready for next season with the Galaxy, I havenât even thought about taking up with any other teams, I have a few little niggles that I have to sort out before I even contemplate making any decisions.
âThere has been a lot of speculation and a few clubs are interested but it wouldnât be right for me to go anywhere if I wasnât 100% fit and ready.
"I donât have any major problems, just an Achilles injury, but if that isnât right, I wonât be going anywhere.â
Ireland face Sweden and Austria in March, a double header that will go a long way in determining the sideâs Group C fate.
And Keane, in line with manager Giovanni Trapattoni, has targeted second place.
â2013 is going to be a big year for Ireland in March - two very important games,â he said.
âThey will dictate where the teams will go so we look forward to it and hopefully itâll be a lucky year for us.
"Sweden and Austria are the two teams that are going to be around us. I didnât see the game but I heard Sweden were very good against England but I think they are similar to us, not too many differences.
âWhen you look at Germany, itâs fair to say, they will win the group and itâs up to us to finish second as we always do and go into a play off.
"We are still in with a shout but these two games are a make or break but we have as much chance as anyone else.â
The 32-year-old, who was speaking in Dublin today as part of Threeâs Bringing Everyone Closer campaign, picked up his second MLS Cup this month after scoring a penalty in the Californiaâs teamâs 3-1 win over Houston on 1 December.
I see Rodgers has told Downing his services are no longer required at Liverpool and he can leave in January. Canât see Liverpool getting their money back on him.
No I canât see anyone paying ÂŁ20 million for Downing either mate.
Loic Remy to Newcastle for 10 million looks a done deal. Will probably mean that Demba Ba is on his way
Anytime I have seen Remy I thought he looks a decent player. 10 million isnât a huge amount of money for him either in the current environment.
current environment?
Lucio has signed for Sao Paulo.
Lucio was a charlatan in fairness, Mourinho got a few good performances in the CL out of him but for the most part he was very poor in Serie A, he has no tactical discipline. I was absolutely disgusted at the credit and praise he got when Inter won the CL and the lack of it bestowed onto Walter Samuel, Samuel has and always will be a much superior central defender.
Samuel was once destroyed by the genius that is Emile Heskey in a Liverpool Roma match some years back.
Correct, pal.
walter samuel was embarrassed in spain too was he not?
Quaresma a free agent after leaving Besiktas. Rumours heâll join Porto.
I always liked Quaresma, a very classy player but he really has flopped outside of Portugal
Liverpool about to spend 18 million on Tom Ince and Daniel Sturridge
Ah here-not what Liverpool need and not for that money.
Idiots. In fairness they might do well and are both a good tactical fit with the way Liverpool play but they could probably get Sanchez for that money, Sturridge is out of contract in the summer as well which makes it even more mental.
I think both would improve them and they badly need more attacking threat but 18 millions is twice what they should be paying for them.
ÂŁ12 Million for Sturridge :o
