Smashing stuff out of the fiver

READ MY LIPS
In today’s special commemorative, print-out-‘n’-keep edition of the Fiver, we would like to pay tribute to Dennis Lachter, an honest, dignified man who also happens to be the Mr 15% of Andrei Arshavin, and has spent the last six months engaged in a living, spinning spiral of endless speculation.
Last month, and not before time, Lachter’s patience finally broke. “I don’t think it’s the right way to promote the player by speculating about where he could end up,” he roared.
In this review of his finest moments since his client shot to fame at Euro 2008, we honour Lachter’s unimpeachable integrity and, most of all, his stubborn refusal to be drawn into the nasty, filthy habit of “speculating about where he could end up”.
June 29
“There are several clubs from the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A interested.”
July 6
“Zenit want at least 30m, and foreign clubs offer no more than 20m. The situation is not at an impasse though. Several potential buyers are involved.”
July 7
“The push for Arshavin has only just got going. The clubs who are following him are only just warming up their engines.”
July 8
“The official interest has come from Barcelona, Valencia and Real Madrid. Andrei would like to play in the Premier League but he will not accept an offer from clubs like Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa.”
July 10
“Barcelona failed with a 12m bid and now an English club have had a 19m offer rejected.”
July 12
“Andrei is desperate to join Arsenal. His style of play would suit them perfectly.”
July 30
“Andrei has made it known he wants to leave Zenit and has made his decision he would like to go to Tottenham.”
August 7
“For the Russian sports establishment the desires of a player mean absolutely nothing. They are the big bosses. It is a dictatorship. He is a slave.”
Aug 20
“Arsne Wenger is indeed a cunning fox who always says one thing and does the other. He wanted Andrei, but Arsenal do not pay large salaries.”
Aug 31
“I have spoken with Daniel Levy several times. Valencia are the other club interested.”
Sep 3
“The Zenit president said that if Tottenham are still interested in buying Arshavin, then we can revisit the subject in January.”
Nov 20
“The club that is best suited to sign Andrei at the moment is Real Madrid. His dream is to show his quality to the whole world and the Bernabeu is a great showcase.”
Nov 21
“He is being followed in England, Italy and Spain. Several things are happening, but we have had no concrete offers. Real Madrid are in pole position.”
Dec 5
“We have not verified the situation but we know there are several clubs in Spain, England and Italy who are all interested in Arshavin.”
Dec 30
“We know Arsne Wenger likes the look of Arshavin, but I like the look of Angelina Jolie. It doesn’t always mean you get what you want. There has been a lot of interest in him.”
Jan 7
“There is no news, no negotiations. I represent the player and I can assure you I would know if something had been discussed.”
Dennis Lachter, we salute you.

Banter on show here.

Stoke linked with the Hare, Ledley and Etherington.

The sickening slimeball Redknapp is at it again.

From teamtalk about Defoe:

“I hope he can play with Pavlyuchenko,” Redknapp said. “They paid 16million for Bent, 14million for Pavlyuchenko and they say they couldn’t play together. I couldn’t be that stupid, surely.”

No but your such a fucking idiot that you and your coaching staff couldnt get two pretty decent strikers to be able to play together. Hardly worth boasting about I reckon. Saw a thread on F365 also today slating the prick. He has 27 decent players in his squad that any clown should be able to take to the top half of the table. Spurs are still fighting relegation.

Radis Clyde apparently started their football hour at 6pm with 3 main headlines from the huns:

  1. Boyd’s going to Birmingham.
  2. Ferguson’s been put on the transfer list.
  3. Lafferty has done his cruciate knee ligaments.

Big, big month for Celtic?

Needing and being no 1 priority are 2 different things. They NEED a central midfielder more than a keeper.

Its some fucking list.

STEVE WATSON, Phillipe Albert, Darren Peacock, Steve Howey, John Beresford, Allesandro Pistone, Stuart Pearce, Warren Barton, Aaron Hughes, Andy Griffin. That was season one, when Kenny Dalglish was in charge.

Nikos Dabizas, Laurent Charvet, Carl Serrant, Didier Domi, David Beharall, they followed in season two. After that came Marcelino, Alain Goma and Cristavao Helder. Then Steve Caldwell, Wayne Quinn and Andy O’Brien. Robbie Elliott, Sylvain Distin, Olivier Bernard, Titus Bramble. That brings it up to 2003.

Jonathan Woodgate, Steven Taylor, Stephen Carr, Charles N’Zogbia, Ronny Johnsen, Celestine Babayaro, Jean-Alain Boumsong, Amdy Faye, Craig Moore and Peter Ramage. These were the Graeme Souness men.

Paul Huntington, David Edgar, Oguchi Oneywu, Abdoulaye Faye, David Rozehnal, Claudio Cacapa, Habib Beye and Jose Enrique followed. Sebastien Bassong and Fabricio Coloccini bring it up to date this season.

These are the 46 Newcastle United defenders Shay Given has played behind in the Premier League in his 11 years on Tyneside, a total that equates to a new back four every season, and then some. There were others along the way, short-stays, loans and triallists from Franck Dumas to Lamine Diatta.

These are 46 of the reasons why Shay Given is so fed up his solicitor Michael Kennedy announced on Thursday night that Given is “considering his position” at Newcastle.

And, apart from Woodgate, none of them are any use.

Actually I always liked Pistone as a player for some reason. He could have good games every now and again.

its some amount of dirge though, funny when you see them all listed out there in one go.

What price loyalty? Defoe demands pay-off from Pompey after engineering move to Spurs

Jermain Defoe incredibly demanded that Portsmouth pay him a 700,000 loyalty bonus when he left to join Tottenham in a 15million deal this week.
The 26-year-old striker - making his third January move in the space of five years - insisted he was entitled to the golden handshake because he had not officially requested a transfer from Fratton Park.
Laughing all the way to the bank: Jermain Defoe managed to pick up a tidy sum along with his transfer to White Hart Lane.
During the final hours of negotiations, Tottenham said the South Coast club would have to pay Defoe’s bonus.

Pompey told Spurs in no uncertain terms where to go and it is believed the Londoners finally agreed to pay it themselves.

When Defoe joined Portsmouth for 7.5m last January he had a clause in his contract that he would be paid an extra 200,000 for every season at the club.

With three and a half years left on his deal the striker was due an extra 700,000 if he remained at Fratton Park.

The Defoe camp’s argument was that Portsmouth did not have to sell him unless they wanted too — and therefore they should pay the full bonus.
A source close to the deal said: ‘You can imagine what Portsmouth’s reaction was when they were asked to reward Jermain for his loyalty.’

So Defoe is saying that he was happy to stay at Pompey. Bullshit! He was tapped up by 'Arry.

Like I said before, Defoe is a cunt of the highest order

Well you would say that Locke wouldnt you?!

What a coup for United.

Stoke City defender Ritchie De Laet has signed for Manchester United on a three-year performance-related deal.

De Laet has yet to make an appearance for the Potters since joining them in July 2007.
The 20-year-old Belgian signed for Stoke from one of Manchester United’s partnership clubs, Royal Antwerp.

He was loaned to Blue Square Premier side Wrexham in November where he made three appearances before returning because of a hernia problem.
