January Transfer Window Thread

I agree Kia is indeed a cunt. This deal seems fanciful to say the least. Kaka would be a fool to go to City, but he’s been trying to get out of that contract at Milan for a while now, so dont be surprised if he sees this as his way to Real or Barca.

Tottingham Hotspurs have not won a single league game that Gareth Bale has started. Fact*

Anyone see Bale at the end of the Wigan game, his spirit is broken.

Who is this Anas Sharbini character that is soon to be donning the Hoops.

He’s a Croatian U-21 midfielder in the Modric mode apparently. Where have you read about him HangBlaa? I just regarded it as another link that wouldn’t materialise but is there something more concrete?

Negotiations are ongoing Banadage and expect it to be reported in more concrete terms in tomorrows papers…

Modric-like is not the type of player that would be suited to the SPL though, poor fooker would be kicked back to Zagreb.

We will sell shitloads of jerseys in Croatia if we get a Croat in. They love Celtic over there.

I just checked his Wiki and it says he’s 5 '11 so it may be a case of the media putting the new Modric tag on him in the same vein as any skilful young attacking midfielder from Brazil is declared the new Kaka or whatever. Anyway, we can stick Barry Robson or someone in the team to mind him. There’s a You Tube compilation up on a few Celtic sites but I can’t view it in work. That said, I should be wary about these videos as a few pieces of skill allied with a good song can make someone look more impressive than they actually are. Apparently he’s right footed but plays on the left and this is a trait Strachan likes in his teams, with his wide players cutting in and the overlapping full backs providing the width.

You’re right to beware youtube clips Bandage, remember seeing one of Samaras when he signed for City. Misleading isnt the word.

Manchester City decision is Kaka’s alone, say Milan• Gattuso and Dida also on City’s wish-list

Milan have said that the final decision on whether Kaka, the 2007 world player of the year, is to join Manchester City will be the player’s alone, according to the Italian sports daily, Gazzetta dello Sport.

At yesterday’s meeting in Milan, City’s delegation are said to have inquired about the former Rangers midfielder Gennaro Gattuso and Milan’s Brazilian goalkeeper Dida, 35, who is out of favour at the Italian club. Gattuso, 31, has been out of the side with a torn anterior cruciate ligament that will sideline him for the season, but that has not deterred the Manchester club’s interest.

Unconfirmed reports yesterday said the fee for the three players would be around €100m (90.77m), almost double the world record 46m Real Madrid paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001, with Kaka making up the vast majority of that amount.

City’s long-held interest in the Brazilian superstar gained remarkable substance when a four-man delegation representing the richest club in the world travelled to Milan for talks. It is understood the delegation was led by the executive chairman, Garry Cook, and included two representatives of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi billionaire owner, as well as Kia Joorabchian, who acted as a mediator.

After more frustration than success in this transfer window so far, with only Chelsea’s second-choice left-back Wayne Bridge added to Mark Hughes’s struggling side, the City delegation returned to Manchester last night without an answer from Milan but hopeful their offer will eventually prove irresistible to the Italians.

The Milan owner and Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, however, has insisted that the Brazil midfielder is not for sale at any price. “I know nothing about a Manchester City offer for Kaka,” said Berlusconi, who was not directly involved in the talks. “I think he is not transferable and, given that is the case, he will stay in Milan.”

An added complication for City will be tempting Kaka to swap the San Siro for a club currently 15th in the Premier League. City’s approach has not gone as far as offering personal terms to the Brazilian, though it is accepted he would become the highest-paid player in the world, and Kaka stated recently that, while flattered by the Abu Dhabi owners’ interest, it would be difficult for him to leave the San Siro where he is under contract until 2013.

City are acutely aware of the obstacles that stand in the way of an astonishing coup but made it clear to Milan they would pay the world record transfer fee up front. They hope this will ultimately tempt the Italians to relent on their stance as they seek to regain the lustre they have lost since winning the Champions League in 2007. Should Milan hold firm, City will attempt to sign Kaka again in the summer. The Brazilian was the major target Hughes presented to the City board before the transfer window opened.

Big flaw in this is the fact that all Celtics left back options are shite and none capabel of said overlap and width…

Too true HangBlaa and that’s why supporters have been crying out for a left back for about 2 years now. It gets pretty annoying when McGeady jinks inside and attracts the opposition’s right midfielder, right back and one of the central midfielders to the ball before shuffling it into oceans of space for Naylor to bomb onto only for the former Wolves stalwart to thump it into the top tier of the stand. Maybe this young Czech guy Milan Misun that signed over Christmas will fit the bill but he’s not going to be in the team in the short term.

Miller poised for QPR loan move

Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has confirmed that midfielder Liam Miller could be allowed to join QPR on loan until the end of the season.

The Black Cats have received an approach from the Coca-Cola Championship side for their 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who may be prepared to let him leave the Stadium of Light on a temporary basis.

Sbragia told the club’s official website, www.safc.com: 'There’s been some interest in Liam from QPR, so something might happen there.

'They have made an inquiry about him and we are just waiting to see the full extent of their interest.

‘But it looks like it could be a loan. They have put a feeler out, certainly.’

Should the deal go through, Miller could have played his last game for Sunderland with his contract due to expire in the summer.

The former Celtic, Manchester United and Leeds United man has made only four appearances for the Black Cats this season, the most recent of them as a substitute in the 4-1 Barclays Premier League defeat by Bolton Wanderers on 29 November, which was Roy Keane’s last game in charge.

He arrived on Wearside on the final day of the transfer window in August 2006 as then new boss Keane brought in six new signings.

Two of those men - Graham Kavanagh and Ross Wallace - left the club last week.

Miller has played 60 times for the Black Cats, but was transfer-listed by Keane in February last year for persistent lateness.

He eventually worked his way back into favour, although struggled to command a place in the starting XI following the Corkman’s latest recruitment drive during the last close-season.

isnt gattuso out for the rest of the season?
dida is shit
replace kaka with the guy coming back from bordeaux & have roanadinhio feeding pato & Milan are still in a good position but 91 million richer
Kaka gives a fair chunk of his wages to charity - appartently he gives it to his church so he isnt money driven but might see a higher wage as a chance of getting more money for his church

Fair point corncrake, I’d agree with every part of it, the kid at Bordeaux is some talent. I’d imagine Kaka might see this as a way out of Milan and writing a contract that will allow him to go to Spain.

Whether the money is for himself or for his church it’s ludicrous to say he isn’t “money driven” if he sees this as a chance of “getting more money.”

Also Gourcuff is having a decent season but he’s been tipped as the next Zidane for a good few seasons now and is only now looking in any way like a player.

It’ll be the most pimped out church in the Country if this move goes through.

Irregardless Rocko he’s still on fire this season, seen some clips of him and he’s awesome. French are wetting themselves.

I saw on SSN at lunchtime that Kaka’s agent has said the player would like to speak to Manchester City if the clubs can agree a fee. He also said any potential move would not be money driven.

If the latter’s true then it would be the equivalent of Fernando Torres joining Torino or someone.

probably phrased that wrong- he isnt materialistic

Milan have ronaldinho ,pirlo & Pato so will do just fine without him
