up to the minute news…
Kaka has played down a link to Manchester City, stating: I want to grow old at AC Milan.
I hope he doesn’t go.
A nothing club that suddenly becomes mega rich buying one of the world’s best players from one of the world’s best teams for an extorionate sum with extorionate wages.
It stinks.

It wouldn’t be the first time though
hope he doesnt go for a couple of reasons. as farmer said, it stinks that a club can just go around flashing the cash and buy their success. and it would be a huge drop down for Kaka to go to city, and if he didnt perform, then his career would be tarnished, rightly or wrongly, thereafter. he is a legend and an absolute joy to watch, and would much rather seeing him take passes off Pirlo and playing in killer balls to Pato than taking a pass from Michael Ball and playing in a ball to Darius Vassell
Looks like it is not happening anyway.

So who are Liverpool whoring themselves out to these days?
Don’t agree with it but at least they have tradition.
Ah tradition, that beautiful ol moniker. I respect LIverpool and admire their tradition, but what a pile of shite it is to be still going on about it.
What tradition have Tyrone got? Tradition is for history books.
Anyone that has money to build them a new stadium. Not too many interested it seems.
Mark Hughes is totally out of his depth at City. Players being bought over his head and he has no idea how to fit them into a winning combination. Man City made a huge mistake last year getting rid of Sven. He would have been ideal for this chequebook management as proven at Lazio
Very few would handle whats going on at City right now, its similar to what happened Ranieri at Chelsea. Players being bought in left right and centre. Sven would have fared little better imo. The only manager who can handle this sort of situation is a manager brought in by the owners, for he is the one who can lay down his ground rules safe in the knowledge that it is them who are looking for him.
yes, Rock is very pedantic at time
Ranieri took Chelsea into the CL when they were on the verge of bankruptcy. Think they came second under him the year after with the Abramovich money and got to CL semi final where they lost to Monaco.
In the circumstances he did a fine job.
Mark Hughes has a side fighting relegation that were chasing Europe for the majority of last season. They appear to have no organisation, tactics or spirit.
A moot comparison therefore.
You’re missing my point. Ranieri was a fine manager (as I would say Hughes is too, just not at his level yet, but a lot younger) but he still couldnt adequately deliver what was expected of him due to outside forces.
I actually think Hughes is a poor enough manager. His sides always lack dicipline, and red cards are never the fault of him or his players. He did an average to ok job at Blackburn, but I think City could have got better than him. His sides are usually filled with the sterotypical passionate players he loves and used to be himself, but are often tactically short.
Fair enough but the decline in Man City this season is not solely down to outside forces.
Hughes has no idea what his best eleven is, there is no team structure or shape to his side. His regular ramblings about needing 5 new players seem to have had the effect of destroying the confidence of some of the players.
All in all, Hughes has performed disastrously in the role thus far. Ranieri despite unbelievable pressure and with Mourinho tapped up in the background delivered progress. Not enough to keep him in the job mind…
More than harsh. Look at the state of Blackburn now. If anything he overachieved there and his record in the transfer market with limited funds was impressive - McCarthy, Dunn, Santa Cruz, Samba, Nelsen etc
Is struggling to handle the expectations of the likes of Robinho etc. Defensively they have gone to pieces under him.

I know Blackburn are worse now, but Paul Ince was manager, and he was a terrible appoinment. He did well to pick up good players with a lot of experience for cheap money. but the players you mention above are certainly far from unknowns or shots in the dark. definately dont think he overachieved there, he did what any average manager would do with them IMO.
Deal of the window so far, Kilbane move to Hull moves closer to fruition.
It’s not so much Man City’s lack of tradition that’s galling, it’s the fact that they haven’t earned their progress by shrewd management and pushing themselves beyond their abilities each season until they became a renowned name.
Clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and Valencia in recent seasons threatened to break into the European elite by assembling fine squads under excellent managers and working their way to the top. Chelsea just blew that out of the water and City are trying to do the same. Not good for the game.
Ya didnt realise Samba or Nelsen were household names prior to him signing them.
Dunn was washed up at Bolton but was turned around. Santa Cruz was a bit part player at Bayern. McCarthy had been touted around for a few years but Hughes was the one that actually took him.
