Agreed.
Brian Kerr let slip in commentary on Setanta Sports tonight that Peter Lawwell rang him up yesterday to ask him about a League of Ireland player.
Maybe he feels having another compatriot will bring the best out of Paddy McCourt.

Bit strange that Lawwell rang to ask him wasn’t it. You wouldn’t think that would be his job.

mcginn or fahy?
I hear moves are afoot to bring Scott Brown from Celtic to Spurs for 12 million in January.
What’s your source Shannonsider**? Strachan mentioned something after the game tonight about us taking the positives from it forward to the second half of the season, provided we don’t have to sell anybody. It’s a large amount of money but I would be averse to selling a decent player like Brown mid-season.
Quite possibly missing a decimal point there SS**. The Glasgow Celtic squad is hardly worth 12m. Spurs also need to sell before they can buy
Well, the EPL lost the run of itself financially a very long time ago so fees like that are not outside the bounds of possibility. You only need look at mediocrity like James Milner commanding a 12m fee for example.
Milner is hardly worth 12m but has done well for us.
Crazy money paid for SPL players is surely a thing of the past tho. Enough fingers have been burned on three of the most recent exports - Boumsong, Gordon and Hutton to make clubs wary of a serious outlay again.
Brown is a run of the mill hustler midfielder. I’d say Nigel Reo Coker is better. Dont think he would be found wanting for stamina 20mins before the end of a CL tie at Aalborg for example.

he has never made the step up to the CL so its hard to say
Agree with KIB on this one. Brown isn’t worth 12 million. He hasn’t got required balance in his game yet to warrant such a figure. Then again though if Milner went for 12 million then Brown is probably worth at least that figure. The EPL market has simply been crazy.
Fair point NCC. I don’t think the lad mentioned commands a place in the Aston Villa midfield so it’s unlikely he would make the step up.
nothing if not consistent NCC
Its only this year that former SPL Hall of Famer and proven CL performer Stiliyan Petrov has become a regular.
Shaun Maloney former SPL player of the year and CL ‘friendly’ goalscorer last night could barely make our bench at the end never mind command a regular place in the Aston Villa midfield.
Laughable
id take 7 million for him

Craig Burley
I’ve a feeling SS** might have been a tad sarcastic on this and has taken advantage of Spurs tendencies to splash out on average British players - Bale, Bent, Hutton etc.
drunken ferguson- a flop at huns - good in the epl
the failed hun midifled of tuguy & arteta- not good enough for the huns- good in the epl
tore andre flo - very good for chelsea- couldnt hack the spl
not for one minute suggesting anything along the lines that the epl isnt the best league on europe or that the spl isnt near enough the top 10 ,just showig how easy it is to argue like kib

here we go again with the stupid comparisons. some players suit teams and play well in a system. Others dont. shevchenko was one of the best strikers in Europe, and was muck at Chelsea. Collymore had done well at Liverpool and went ot Villa for big money and was shite. Same goes for proven International striker Milan Baros. Doing stupid comparisons like that by saying they dont/didnt play well for Villa so that must mean they’re shit is ridiculous.
