Joe Canning, Unquestionably the GOAT

Joe has Portumna back flying it so deserves a big shiny new jalopy.

It’ll look well out in Mick Neville next year with the minor team.

They’ll probably go A

What was that?

The night of the 2017 All-Ireland, I remember looking around and thinking, “Where would all these people be if we hadn’t won?” Probably in the Waterford hotel!

The night I read that article, I remember looking around and thinking, “Joe Canning really is a miserable bastard.”

Of course he wouldn’t. There’s bigger money to be made in Limerick by playing it smart. Galway hurling has very little to offer him now, so he’s happy to throw supporters to the hounds.

We wouldn’t need Joe. We can call on our own four time All Ireland medallist.

I was in Eyres square that night. A tame affair. Watching it In the kings head was my first bad call.

Aimee’s fiancée John was best man on the day as he stood with Joe on the altar. He and the famous groom looked dashing in black suits paired with classic black ties.

The bride looked beautiful in a spaghetti strapped white gown complete with a thigh high slit as she posed with her new husband and John and Aimee for a picture at the evening reception. Aimee looked fabulous in an emerald green dress.

Following the wedding, Aimee said: “Congrats Joe and Meg. What an unreal day yesterday… such an early night too.”

“That’s it, finished with Galway now,” the Portumna man said at the time.

“I told the boys after in the dressing room, that was it, so have to keep my word a bit on that one.

“I will keep playing with Portumna, but that’s me finished with Galway."
