Joe Canning, Unquestionably the GOAT

in fairness im watching joe for the last 2 years in lit and even had the pleasure of marking him in a challenge match and he has some touch and speed of thought…not the quickest in terms of acceleration but makes up for it in other ways…best sideline cut merchant since adrian fenlon…

Is Finnerty managing some other connacht team now? What about a dream team of Finnerty, Keady and McInerney?! They might be able to show the current half back line a thing or two!

think finnerty is over mayo…read something about him and keith higgins the dual mayo lad…

Canning could be the best ever if he has a lengthy career. The fear would be that some hatchetman would do him in and cause an injury he might never recover from.
Although in fairness he’s a hardy hoor and well able to give and take the knocks.
Only himself and Cullinane were the only 2players(Ollie too before Joe Deane raped him)
Galway had on Saturday.
Joe Deane is still a class act in fairness, he still looks like a younglad in appearance, what age is he now anyway

he was U-21 in 98 so 30 I suppose;

Whatever about his on field performance. JC has made some profile for himself with the younger breed of fans.

Queues out the door of the ‘Canning Hurls’ stand to buy signed hurls from Joe. 25 odd euro for the hurl and they sold hundreds of them today.

A few rows down ‘Lar Corbett Sports’ stand was pretty empty

I was told by a steward today that Joe had to close up early due to running out of stock but still hung around signin anything and everything.

I would say he could have shifted over 1000 hurls today if he had them. It was gas listening to a KK family near us, the ould fella trying to get the young fella to get a Walsh hurl as there was no queue for that stand but the 2 sons were adamant they wanted a signed JC hurl.

Chap does four years in LIT and he ends up making hurleys? That’s some fucking waste of a college place.

LIT.

He did 6 in LIT, started in 2006 and graduated in 2012

In fairness that would probably make him one of the more successful people to come out of there

Agreed his course was probably in hurley making

It kept him occupied I suppose. And there was always the Fitzgibbon. Not so easy to get pulled into the bank now if you are a big GAA star.

He spent most of his time in Clems any way…

Who needs the bank?

With a mark up of nearly 15 euro per hurl, a 4 figure appearance fee for social events and numerous endorsement contracts I’d say Joe would laugh at a PAYE bank clerks salary…

Exact same last year, Lar was trying to peddle goalposts and basketball rings to half a dozen bachelor farmers whilst a few stands down JC was raking it in hand over fist

Same at the Tullamore show, JC’s stand had a queue out the door and was inhibiting the entrance into other stands.

The biggest issue they have is getting the queueto move quicker. Bit like the Galway team, you’d almost need 2 Joe Cannings to really get a full performance!!
