No you’d be wrong not naive. John made it clear that he was doing that job in a volunteer capacity, so you can take your insinuations elsewhere. John is also too much of a gentleman to say it, but I think it is clear that at the very least he doesn’t consider the OCI to be alright sorts and that his associating with them is damaging to the hard earned brand and reputation of the FAI.

It is also of interest that his resignation comes hot on the heels of the EOCs declaration of support for Mr Hickey which was obviously the final straw for John.

My cynical mind has led me astray again. I did not know he volunteered himself to such a worthy organisation like the OCI, a bastion of selfless sacrifice in the hope of bettering Irish athletics. I hope his decision to resign was not taken in haste, as it has only been 3 months since this story broke. Surely a man with such impeccable character would be better placed to clean up this mess as opposed to resigning. We can only hope that he reconsiders. God bless you John Delaney.

I think you can read between the lines here and conclude that John has surveyed the wreckage here for three months and reluctantly concluded that it is beyond repair.

Going from a glance of Twitter this evening, John invited to Irish football media into a presentation delivered by some consultant about how the FAI can improve the “LOI brand”.
The consensus is that Alan Partridge oversaw the powerpoint session and the results beyond hilarious
A TY student could have done better based on some of the slides I saw.

The National team qualify for tournaments reguarly
