You wonāt lose money betting on the simple nature of roasters
Youāre a gas man, Timothy.
Ordinarily you love to stick it to the soccer crowd. But you can easily put that aside when it comes to defending the Lord of the manor over the peasantry.
John Delaney is a grassroots man.
A snake?
Not really mate. I look at things in balance.
Iāve criticized the FAIās corporate governance previously. The lack of historic glossy annual reports available on their website annoyed me.
Delaney I would agree was probably overpaid, but I think there has been a lot of hysterical stuff said on aspects of his remuneration.
The FAI have challenges that the sporting organisations like the IRFU donāt have and other ones like the GGA donāt either. People have a tendency to pile on without facts or context. The FAI were never ever going to be able to afford the kind of infrastructure development that the IRFU could before professionalism or the GGA now.
As I mentioned, a lot of the criticism of Delaney is fact free. The ā¬5m for example, that was a brilliant bit of business by Delaney, but it was treated like it was a disgrace by the Oirish soccer journalists.
Iāve been on record to say as much myself ā they are throwing , not quite mud, a bit of dirt maybe, but none of it is enough to stickā¦ I certainly think itās time he moved on tho - no one should have that much control for so long.
Whatās his salary?
Whatās his salary?
Ten thousand belaruskis a month
Looks like a lot of the EPL barstoolers who notice Irish soccer only during international breaks are anti Mr Delaney whilst those who have given most to the game and are involved at grassroots level are pro Mr Delaney.
A notable exception is @Juhniallio who has given a lot to the game but feels slighted by a 2012 decision by st Melās Park to look elsewhere for their vending requirements and blanes Mr Delaney personally.
Whoās this gaa crowd heās talking about?
All the great sports administrators- Pete Rozelle, Vince McMahon, David Stern etc., they all have mud thrown at them.
Flesh that out a bit in this context please, mate particularly in relation to the 5 years and risk bits.
Just wondering if youāve had time to address this @Tim_Riggins?
Itās self explanatory.
The average tenure is something like 5 years. They get paid a lot in that time but CEOs should get paid well. It is often all consuming and stressful. It is also the peak of someoneās career, after which they retire. You are talking about earning a mega salary for a few years.
Itās the same in a lot of walks of life. Professional services firms will usually cap a retirement age of 55 or so on their Partners. They have a few years to make hay before leaving.
The precise remuneration (relative to peers) and corporate governance is a separate point.

Oh I understand all that but I asked you to comment in the context of this particular situation if you could be so kind, specifically in relation to āriskā which you havenāt really addressed there in your point and also the fact that 14 years > 5 years.
Mr. Delaney could have ten directorships and be making the same money for doing SWFA. He just loves the grassroots too much
It was a response to someone saying that 17k net a month isnāt a whole lot for a CEO.
Whatever it is heād be cheap at double it
The FAI isnāt a fortune 500 company
here is the average salary for a CEO in Ireland

How many employees does the FAI have? less than 200 Iād presume
Ah come on now, be serious. Donāt make me explain averages again.
Please do.
