Yes, this doesn’t sound good at all. He went into the hospital complaining of headaches on Friday and is starting chemo today - turns out it’s testicular cancer that’s spread to the brain. Good luck to him.

Cancer is a nightmare.
My Aunt died this weekend after being given the all-clear 9 years ago, then it’s all of a sudden back and spread everywhere and she was given 2 weeks (as she was very weak).
She lasted a day and a bit.
For the amount of money that countries are pouring into cancer research it’s mad that there isn’t a proper cure yet.
Good luck to Hartson. I have sympathy for all these guys (except Armstrong).

I doubt there will ever be a “cure” for cancer. You might find ways of curing certain types of cancer before it spreads but really when the cure is destroying bad cells then the emphasis (in my wholly unmedical opinion) should be on better screening as opposed to finding an elusive cure to a disease that has killed people since the start of time. You may as well be looking for a cure to heart disease.
Work on the causes first - smoking, sun etc. and then work on screening second. Hartson’s news is a bit scary considering the age profile of people with testicular cancer and the fact that it could spread to the brain without being detected first is frightening. Get it at its source and it can be treated, but this requires a far more comprehensive and universal screening system than what currently exists anywhere.

Bloodstream I’d guess.
But would it not infect other organs along the way first?
Doesn’t have to no. You can have it spread internally to other organs that are in proximity (example throat to lungs etc) but it’s fairly common for cancer in a major organ to just go straight to the brain via the bloodstream I think. It’s a different sort of spreading because it’s not the same organic growth so it becomes far more difficult (or near impossible) to control.
Not 100% sure on that just going on what I’ve seen.
