Ryder Cup has never been about test of golf in Europe. Celtic Manor and The K-Club are dog shit golf courses.
I went down to it for two or three hours yesterday afternoon.
It’s a funny enough event. The security was incredibly lax which was surprising. It’s class to see the pros but gets a bit boring when the o Leary’s are hacking it around the place with a tired looking Gordon Elliott and it was rabbit in the head lights stuff for the two smurffit kids playing with tiger.
A friend of mine was operating a van selling cheese sandwiches and the WiFi /4g didn’t work on the course so they’d no card machine. Most people didn’t have cash then as well.
The tiger is in woeful shape. He could hardly stand at times. Hard to see him playing in the open.

Saw that clip online of Tiger chipping in from in front of the green. It was slightly uphill to walk onto the green and it struck me he looked like a feeble 70-year old taking the steps up onto it. He could barely move.
Ended up seeing quite a bit of it on Peacock and then on Virgin. The coverage on Peacock started around 12 midday - first shot was an iron approach shot of McIlroy, he hits it then a big roar of ‘aboyyythekiddd’ - very funny.
Tiger looks to be in that goofy, drunk uncle buzz that he was in when the few days before he was in the crash when hosting/guesting at that tournament. Not good.
He’s in savage pain. How he made the cut at the us open and Augusta I’ll never know. You’d wonder why he is bothering.
At one stage I thought he was going to putt while sitting in the golf cart.
Lowry was partnered with a couple of sheiks too who seemed to be taking it fairly serious.
