Now we have matured as a nation and more willing to embrace other cultures, it’s time we joined our fellow countrymen in their celebration of this most glorious of days.

A bad day to be an Orangeman.

Was nearly certain that if anyone was going to start a thread on this it would be either Locke or Manuel Zaleya

Good point Puke. Happy 12th Locke. Will you be going for a walk today?

12,000 attend Co Donegal Orange parade

Over 12,000 people gathered in Rossnowlagh, Co Donegal today for the annual Orange parade, the only such event south of the border.

Fifty lodges and bands from North and South took part in the parade, which passed off peacefully.

Republican slogans protesting at the parade had been painted on roads approaching the seaside town last night.

Grand Chaplain of the Orange order Rev Stanley Gamble said that the good work of President McAleese in making ‘Ireland a warm house for Protestants’ must be continued.

He also said he had ‘no doubt’ that Queen Elizabeth would be welcomed as warmly in Ireland as her grandfather King George V was 100 years ago.

Great to see the bigotry has finally left this great festival

Just watching the round up of the cultural celebrations on BBC 1 here at the moment. Looks like a great day out. As one of the brethern put it there ‘You grow out of Christmas but you’ll never grown out of the twelfth’.

Our northern cousins are sticking it to the law anyway, go get 'em lads

I don’t care what anyone says - King Billy’s status as a homosexual icon only enriches the occasion.

ncc the biggot.

Interesting that the Battle of the Boyne is celebrated on 12 July when in fact it was 1 July 1690. I believe this particular anomoly may relate to the transition from the Julian to the Georgian calendar.

The Battle of Aughrim was 12 July 1691.

Of course the incumbent in the Vatican, Pope Alexander VIII was one of King William’s staunchest supporters in 1690.

Wow, you listened to Pat Kenny this morning, well done to you…Fucking Bluffer

I hope he checked his facts this time, and Mullach Ide doesn’t have to come in to correct him and make a show of him!

A charming picture drawn by a young chap which depicts the apprentice boys famously closing the gates of Derry.

I can confirm Rocko was a member of the above march.

I heard about this too. Rocko was referring to being in Donegal last weekend on other threads also.

It’s enough to make you doubt the veracity of his every post. A trenchant Celt with a penchant for the sash.
