CELTIC are hopeful John Kennedy hasn’t repeated the knee injury that stole three years of his career.
The Parkhead defender was carried off during the 2-1 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk.
Encouragingly, late-night X-rays on his left knee at the Royal Infirmary appeared to show no major damage.
Kennedy was transferred to Ross Hall - and was visited by club captain and best mate Stephen McManus - and today he will have more detailed scans on the knee.

Kennedy looked to fall awkwardly as Gordon Strachan’s side moved closer to a place in the last 16 with Massimo Donati’s last-gasp winner.
A Hoops source revealed: "John felt something immediately after landing, but it’s a case of so far so good after X-rays failed to highlight any serious problems. That’s welcome news, but the scan will be a lot more detailed and should pick everything up. After what John has gone through this is the last thing he needs.
Good news indeed. I’d be gutted for the lad personally if his career was in doubt again after all he’s been through to get back. We still have to wait for results from the full and detailed scan though.
AFTER sustaining an injury in last nights UEFA Champions League match with Shakhtar Donetsk, John Kennedy today underwent an MRI scan on his left knee.
Initial results show that John has sustained damage to his lateral meniscus and the posterior lateral complex of the knee, which could mean the injury isnt as severe as first thought.
An arthroscopic investigation will be carried out on Johns knee tomorrow morning (Friday) and will confirm the extent of the damage. If the initial diagnosis is confirmed, John could possibly return to action within 12 weeks.
Now that it seems like he’s ok, is it alright to ask why you’d want such a shitheap of a player in your squad at all. He was terrible last night, and not just for their goal. Surely the ever dependable Andy O Brien should be brought in during the transfer window?
He was having a torrid time last night alright but he’s only 24 and missed a full 3 years of his apprenticeship through injury so I was willing to give him at least this full season before judging him.
Unfortunately this injury is another setback and will knock him in his stride again and I fear these injuries will prevent him from realising the potential he showed when he first came on the scene.
I thought Kennedy was first class away to Benfica. Other than that I think he’s been average at best but he’s played something like 12 games now after missing 36 months. That’s not 36 months of no first team football - it’s the guts of 3 years not being able to walk for most of it, not being able to kick a ball for nearly all of it and not having tested yourself at all and an important part of your development. That’s a huge blow and it’s not clear whether it’s something he (or anyone else) can overcome.
