Kilkenny Hurling

RIP Podge. Even back when I was underage, Podge was king of the space between the 65’s.
No way was he going beyond either of them while the game was on. A sound man.

He reffed me as well. He was old then. And that was a good few years ago now.

Was he a priest?

I know you’re talking about a tournament, but what’s the history there? Who is it named after?

Phelans hardware in Ballyragget.
There’s also a family in Ballyragget ( Stones) who lost a son in a car accident 20 odd years ago. His name was added in his honour

I didn’t realise Matt Ruth was originally from Ballyragget

I was told that before I was a week living here. In fact he’s indirectly related to me through marriage. My aunts (R. I.P) husband is a cousin of his

They used holiday up my way, I think he had hurled on the ould lad a few times so they would always hop off each other. I remember Matt jnr and the older lad (Richie?) knocking about the place before they got serious into their own hurling. Sound skins.

According to RTE someone in Kilkenny has said that not giving a mosque the go ahead is better than winning an all Ireland

Well, slightly KK GAA related.

In other news, great craic in the medieval city this morning as a "suspicious package " found in the butterslip this morning brought the whole place to a halt.

A football?

Genuine lol there

Conor got there before you

You ruined with with the exclamation points, Conor.

One objector was quoted as saying the decision to reject the plan was “better than an All Ireland victory”, which Imam Ndure said is very insensitive.

KK have definitely had too much success. A few years in the wilderness will be no harm at all.
