La Liga 2013/14

Messi puts Barca in front from the spot.

Atletico Madrid came from behind in Bilbao to win 2-1 against Athletic.

CR7 puts Real 1 up. 15 mins

CR9 - the big man for the small occasion.

Chewy, how has this deal been affected with this morningā€™s news?

Donā€™t know, pal. Chelsea got a similar ban/embargo a few seasons back but it was overturned in the courts. Wouldnā€™t be surprised if something similar happened here

Neymar has just had a fucking ridiculous dive away against Granada. Disgusting stuff. Barca 1-0 down.

Still 1 down 10 mins left

Song to Barcelona for Ā£20m odd must be one of the worst transfers in recent history.

Granada win. Title surely going to the capital now.

All over. Thatā€™s Barca out of the league race now.

Is Messi acting a bit of a cunt lately? Read during the week that he only ran 1km more than Pinto in the game against Atletico midweek. He always gets this great rep for being a model pro but in reality he is as as petulant and self-centred as the likes of Ronaldo and Zlatan who get heavily criticised for it.

He hasnā€™t been the same player since his injury this time last year - still capable of brilliance but heā€™s not doing it like he was up to then.

I caught the last 10 minutes of the match there - he didnā€™t seem that bothered.

I sense that he is trying to save himself for the World Cup. Whatever it is heā€™s not playing like he was.

He simply couldnā€™t keep up the levels of performance he had been operating at for five or six years. It was unprecedented in almost any sport Iā€™d say, especially football. With the possible exception of Ronaldo. Both their goal scoring records are still at phenomenal levels despite the dips in overall form.
Itā€™ll all be forgotten if messi does it at the World Cup. How do you think ARG will do Sidney?

Unprecedented?

Really?

Francoā€™s fascists are 3- 0 against Almeria and will leap frog Barca into 2nd place.

The draw (up to the quarter-finals) and the venues (in terms of both climate and travel) are in their favour. Iā€™ve tipped a Brazil v Argentina final since the draw was made. Argentina will be winging it though when it comes to their defence and goalkeepers.Willy Caballero of Malaga and Julian Speroni of Crystal Palace are the two best Argentine keepers around but neither will be in the squad (Carlos Tevez wonā€™t either but this has been known for a long time).

Brazilā€™s defence looks better in comparison but they will be in a similar predicament when it comes to the goalkeeping spot - Julio Cesar who has been warming the bench for QPR for most of the season, now with Toronto, is their number one.

What way is it likely to pan out in terms of who they meet along the way?
