They’ve retained half of the Six Nations rights until the early 2020s. They also still have Wimbledon.
One of the long-standing legendary threads of TFK. @Sidney giving a masterclass in live TV commentary via forum threads.
Looking forward to this now to get me through early January. Here’s hoping for a 9-darter from the Count in the ensuing skirmishes
Channel 5 have it from 2019.
Another day, another all-time legend returns to the Lakeside stage. John “Boy” Walton is back. The 2001 champion makes a very welcome return to the big time at 1pm as he takes on Rob Modra.
Today’s order of play:
Monday 4th January 2016
1300h: Rob Modra vs John Walton
1415h: Jeffrey De Graaf vs Richard Veenstra
1530h: Pip Blackwell vs Martin Atkins
1800h: Ryan De Vreede vs Larry Butler
1915h: Aileen De Graaf vs Casey Gallagher
1945h: Jamie Hughes vs Ross Montgomery
2100h: Martin Phillips vs Ted Hankey
I meant Channel 5 have coverage from 8:19pm each night, which generally means some mixed doubles match from Court 14 or something.
BBC have decided to end their coverage 10 minutes earlier than usual from now on to fit in repeats of Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo.
Damien Lawlor just quoted this, from a previous year’s thread, on the Sean O’Rourke radio show.
Hello Damien.
Hiya Damien.
He’s back!
A 3-0 win and an average of over 90 for John Boy.
Welcome home, old friend.
will you watch all of these games sid?
FAO of @Piles_Hussain:
Aileen de Graaf is on stage now.
She’ll be hoping for better luck than her brother, number 3 seed Jeffrey, who was beaten 3-2 in a Lakeside classic earlier today by his best friend Richard Veenstra.
And Aileen is through.
An impressive 82 average in a comfortable 2-0 win for the friend of the forum.
Two crackers coming up in the evening’s remaining matches.
Jamie Hughes and Ross Montgomery just starting as I type. Ross finally found his true form on the Lakeside stage last year and he’ll be hoping to carry that over to this year. Jamie Hughes has been in excellent form this year however, winning the Romanian Open, the Swedish Open and the Jersey Classic.
The Count puts the icing on the post-Christmas cake of a great day of darts later when he takes on 2014 World Master Martin Phillips.
Long-time Lakeside favourite and Liverpool fan Martin Atkins and the “Bald Eagle”, Larry Butler, won through their ties earlier today, by the way.
The Boss being undermined. Yozza is 2-0 up.
Ross Montgomery has had his famous wart burned off since last year’s championship.
At the moment, it’s looks like he’ll be burned off as quickly.
Tension between the two players as they went off for a mini-break after the second set when Yozza slapped Monty on the back of the head. And it wasn’t camaraderie…
Jamie two legs away.
Roos burning the wart off sapped his strength like Samson cutting off his hair.
A 3-0 win for Jamie Hughes.
Ross refused to shake hands or look at his opponent after the match.
A very disappointing showing from Scotland’s best darts player and national captain, and his post-match interview should be very interesting.
He looked seething.
Ross literally got his coat straight after coming off stage and headed for the main exit door of Lakeside.
Astonishing scenes.
Solid 26 dart leg for Martin Phillips to hold throw as we start proceedings.
Set 1 to Phillips. Ted needs to get that snarl going.
A shaky 66 average for Ted so far. He’ll need to up that to near 80 to win.
Ross will never grace the Lakeside again.
