Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships 2016

Strap in your seat belts. The players are coming to the stage against the backdrop of Duzza this morning confirming that he’s remaining with the BDO.

A Shanghai finish by Scott to clinch the first set 3-0. A 100% record on doubles too. The finishing is so much better in BDO than PDC. I didn’t watch any of the PDC event but I popped in and out of the thread here to regularly read mentions of sub-20% doubles success rates from the likes of “Adey” Lewis.

Lovely 41 dart leg there.

33 darter there. Over in the blink of an eye.

Yozza wins one in 38 darts.

Big celeb spot there. Tony Hatch, who wrote, help me out here, the theme from Crossroads?

2-dart 96 finish by Scott to seal the third set. He’s in cruise control here.

Second maximum of the match there, in the last leg of the third set.

Bizarre story as to how Yozza got his nickname. Did they never hear of Yosser Hughes ?

4-0 to Scott.

The occasion seems too much for Yozza.

Yozza breaks in the 5th set with a 110 check out. He’s throwing for the set now.

Funny you mention Crossroads. Duzza found himself at a crossroads, and has chosen the right path.

Tony Hatch also wrote the theme music to Neighbours. It’s almost like he had the camaraderie and friendship in the BDO in mind when he wrote the lyrics to that great old tune.

Neighbours, Everybody needs good neighbours
With a little understanding
You can find the perfect blend
Neighbours…should be there for one another
That’s when good neighbours become good friends

Is there a better sight in all of sport than Scott Waites in full flow?

Great darts from Jamie here though.

Scotty breaks back. A deciding leg here.

A clinical 2-dart 64 finish by Scott and he leads 5-0 at the interval.

Ruthless from Scotty.

Jamie said to Vassos at the players bar last night: “Of all the champions who have won the world championship, winning the title would change my life the most.”

Hopefully Yozza Hughes won’t be walking around building sites on Monday morning saying “Gissa job.”

A 104 check out by Scott. Jamie throwing first in the deciding leg of set 6. Scott a mere leg away from a place in the final.

Ah lovely. A 97 out shot by Yozza with Scotty waiting on a double.

5-1.

Scott opens the next set with a maximum.

Great character from the Boy from the Black Country to take out 97 to save himself, with Scotty sitting on 56.

He has a set on the board, finally.

180!

Bull finish by Scotty.

Scotty takes out 220 with five darts.

Serving for a place in the final.
