What camaraderie and character from Geezer after missing 8 match darts to applaud the world champion.
Geezer will be back, have no doubt.

Geezer got a round of applause from the whole of the players’ bar when he finished his interview.
The Silencer gave him a hug and Tony O’Shea and Craig Caldwell were also on hand to console him.
“I’m a fighter and I’ve never backed down from anything in my life”, he says.
He’ll be back next year to win try and win this title.

Double ladies’ champion Lisa Ashton is a set down to the legendary Trina Gulliver in their quarter-final.
A touching scene in the audience as a card with a picture of Lisa’s nine-week old granddaughter, Amelia Rose, sits on the table in front of her daughter Danielle.
Amelia Rose is also Trina’s goddaughter.

Richard Veenstra emerging as a bit of a dark horse.
3-0 up and one leg away from victory against the man who I perennially brand a “perennial Lakeside favourite”, Martin Atkins.
Richard is no has-Veen.
He’s through to play Scotty Dog after a 4-0 win with a 91 average. Veen-omenal.
This is the type of chap who could emerge from nowhere and win the tournament.
Only at Lakeside can this happen.
Good to see Dean Winstanley in the audience to support his wife Lorraine. Dean retired from professional darts after the 2012 tournament but he’s always welcome back at Lakeside.
Slightly bizarre end to his interview, all the same, in which his attention was drawn to somebody off camera, who he aimed a question at: “She’s crying, is she?”
