Laochra Gael - Back, and to the left hand on top

Tyrone won an All Ireland on their last legs in 08.

Canavan gone, Oā€™Neill only added to the panel last minute, Mugsy off the rails, McGuigan and McGinley crippled with injuries.

They moved Cavanagh to full forward that year because their forwards just missed that quality.

Think the Tyrone starting forward line was

Dooher Penrose Mellon
T McGuigan Cavanagh McCullagh that year.

Four of those lads were decent players but they were never going to be contending for All Stars.

Harteā€™s greatest achievement was 08. I think they just had Kerry spooked that much that year as Kerry definitely looked the stronger team on paper for that final.

Cavanagh was unreal in 2008ā€¦

Kerry missed a huge amount of chances the 2008 final . They gassed in the last 10 mins too . Kerry were probably in decline then too.

Probably were in decline but I think that Tyrone squad had a lot more miles on the road. Absorbed a lot more injuries and losses through the years.

Donaghy was still doing the business in 2004. Gooch was 25 which should have been the prime of his career, Declan Oā€™Sullivan the same age so I think Kerry certainly had a much better age profile back then to go. The only real players who were younger than Cavanagh in that Tyrone side were the McMahons, Penrose and Tommy McGuigan. The McMahons had torrid times with injuries after 08.

Justy really should have been a fixture at 3 for a decade with Tyrone but had some awful luck with injuries, had a great year in 2015 when he was finally able to get an injury free season under his belt.

This season with Louth will tell a lot

He was fantastic, probably my favorite footballer on that TY team (and mugsy of course)

He seems to be in love with Bernard

This was the first LG I turned off. Very hard to warm to him. Ego maniac. That story about him going to bed at 11pm after winning the All Ireland because he was pissed off he didnā€™t go for the goal, Jesus!!!

I will watch this tomorrow . He was a class player - he had a serious initial kick of pace and then had real strides . Also a serious technical footballer .

Iā€™ve watched it this morning. Christ but heā€™s an odd fucker. Super player in his pomp but given he was practically the only one to praise himself I quickly lost interest.
He had hardly eraā€™ word for some tremendous lads who soldiered with him - Iā€™m thinking Gormley, Jordan, Mugsy and all those, Jesus wouldnā€™t you think wan of them would grind out a few sentences on his behalfā€¦
Oops, sentences etcā€¦

Nice interview with Liam Griffen on Wollie Parkinsonā€™s podcast

De La Salle Waterford, sounds like a real hurling horned at the time he was there.

Iā€™m welling up a bit already, Liam talking about his roots

Would Rosslare have been strong at senior after his underage exploits with them?

Is he dramatic with the claim that Wexford hurling would have been gone if they didnā€™t win something before the end of the century?
