I thought he was cack handed too but watched him during the documentary and he hit it normal off his right for a citĂłg
He was just left handed, same as Lar Corbett and loads more
Did he strike off his right predominantly?
He did. But heâs left handed so he pulled across himself.
He threw the ball under the Hurley so.
The best player Iâve ever seen. Supposed to be a gent to his fingertips to boot⌠He didnât even play in that 06 final. Done his cruciate in the semi I think.
He did it in training with only a few days to go. The gasp from the 10,000 people in the ground that night could be heard all the way to Johnstown
He is a gentleman.
He was best man at a wedding I attended few years back, got the Sky Crew to do a lovely humorous skit on the groom.
Partook in jagerbombs that night & all.
I was talking to someone who was a forward on the KK panel for a scatter of years. He said you might as well forget it if you were put on JJ in training game. You wouldnât get a sniff. Tommy would clean you out also but youâd get a few chances of scores off him. Mick Kavanagh was supposed to be the âsoft touchâ. He used to get cleaned often but he never let them down in a real game.
The day I met him last year Callan were playing Johnstown in a relegation semi at Intermediate level later on that day. I asked him to go easy on us and he was humble out, saying the 'Lockes would be galvanised after our club had a bit of civil war the previous game cc @eoghanruadha & @Piles_Hussain. The Fenians beat us. I wasnât there but Iâm sure he put a Tour de France display the same evening.
Thats true, Kav used to train like he was playing midfield. He used to count up in his head who would strike the most ball.
Left above right and struck with heâs right. Hurley caught wrong in my book.
Not quite he was left handed and neatly or forcibly struck on his right side. He also had a range of striking from his left, it never presented itself as a technical difficulty.
Thought he was a right handed striker?
Natural Citeog, develeped a lean toward right side striking Iâd imagine as the body protects the strike in the tight situations he excelled in but there was no limitation in of range of striking as youâd usually associate with a âkhak handerâ.
Left hand on top, preferred the right side but was grand on the left also, he didnât change hands or anything
Nonsense, with all respect.
JJD is a lefthanded hurler hurling lhot, favouring backhand side.
Has Tommy Walsh the hurl caught wrong? He is a righthanded hurler hurling rhot, favouring backhand side.
Both interestingly favoured backhanded sideline cuts.
Yes. As many do. Because your arse is a massive help, as regards body weight.
Forehand strike depends more on footwork, which is far more difficult.
