Iâd say JCVD hasnât a bulls notion what theyâre talking about for the most part
Would Brady have started in Euro 88?
Charlton didnât rate him.
The red card was a blessing for Jack
He didnât rate OâLeary either.
He was very suspicious of lads with high skill levels.
He didnât want or need them. He wanted lads whoâd burst their bollocks for 90 minutes and not take risks.
Is this a bloke ?
Ask your mickey
Not the best judge
Imagine having that luxury. Tommy Coyne and Bernie Slaven would be our best players now.
John Sheridan was a lovely player that Jack indulged because he was also a very hard bastard
Lovely footballer. Could play in the â10â as well before lads kept going on about the 10 (an era where there was more 4-4-2 or perhaps a bit of 4-3-3).
Jack went more a 4-5-1 for USA 94
Yeah, Sheridan, Keane and townsend in midfield. Houghton and stan out wide and irwin and terry phelan full backs.
Solid as fuck
A fair solid man CB too.
Only copped that after 10 minutes when I googled him
One of the best individual performances ive ever seen against Italy.
Warrior.
The Italians knew a thing or two about a decent CB but his performance was sensational that day.
Imagine how much heâd be worth in todays money
Did Charlton rate Ronnie Whelan? He was central to the qualification for Euro 88 and in the tournament itself
My assessment is that Jack did rate him but injuries caught up with Ronnie after 1988 that he couldnt cover the ground in the middle of the park so he went down the pecking order for a midfield role
