Leaders' Debate Round 2 RTÉ

Continuing the discussion from General Election 2016:

I’m setting up a separate topic for this. I think when future academia pore over TFK to better understand the intellectuals of this era they will benefit from having a slightly easier to navigate debate on the General Election.

9.35pm kick off.

Claire Byrne with the questions.

A neutral audience.

The positions for the debate have been drawn at random and I’ve lovingly created an artist’s impression of what it will look like below:

Claire is in a black trouser and jacket combo with a red top underneath.

RBB on the far left appropriately enough

Up the ra.

Joan over on the right appropriately enough. Swap Stephen Donnelly over to the left of Micheál and we’d be fine.

And Creighton on the far right

Let the fight begin

I think Claire Byrne is a terrible journalist/broadcaster so I’m interested to see how she handles this.

I think she’s decent enough. An awful lot better than Miriam O’Callaghan or David McCullough and I thought the Plank was woeful last week. It’s a poor grouping to be fair.

She’s on record as saying the status of the Special Criminal Court is the main election issue, which is frankly absurd.

She’s far too lightweight to conduct proceedings tonight. I’d say the leaders are delighted she’s doing it, she won’t lay a glove on any of them.

Ok are we ready

Hard to see how it will descend into anything other than chaos with so many voices shouting each other down.

I listened to the entirety of the latest Republican Presidential nominees debate last night and today and if this is a quarter as entertaining it’ll be a great night for the forum.

It won’t be a great night for the forum, so.

They’ve gone for a real showbiz feel. First @Bandage, then Gerry Adams - what a week for Limerick.
