Leaders' Debate Round 3 RTÉ

They won’t.

They will none of the main parties will deal with them not with Adams as leader anyway.

He’s good for getting individual people small things but when it comes to creating jobs or getting factories to stay open he’s non existent. With Lowry in Thurles there will continue to be no jobs as nobody from the outside wants to deal with him given his reputation. Tipp, as a county has not improved one bit since Lowry came in

They don’t need to and won’t in any case as they are completely fundamentally different. It’s very likely that the next Dail will have 50 odd genuine left leaning candidates.

That’s true, but he is also an unknown quantity as Taoiseach particularly for the older generation in the 26 counties. SF could poll up to 30% potentially more like low 20’s which would be previously unheard of but regardless

It’s too much of a transformation for a large percentage of that demograph,. On top of that, I can’t see FF/FG or Labour going into coalition with SF while he is the leader.(Just my opinion I don’t think it’s right but it’s what I reckon)

I can’t see FG/Lab/FF go into coalition with SF as long as their policies are so far misaligned. Adams is an excuse trotted out, he’s not the reason.

I disagree mate, I reckon it would far more palatable for them if Mary Lou or Pearse were in charge.

Policies are the issue, FG/Lab/FF have no remorse over anything they do as long as there’s a benefit to it for them. They’d go into government with Larry Murphy if they could personally gain from it.

We’ll see over the weekend mate, very hard to predict what’s going to happen in fairness.

Leave Larry the fuck out of this.

The only real reason for not having the old 3 in power is gor change. But that change then has to be structural. And structural change to the governmwent and how things are done and modernizing the whole thing can only come from within.
The people, generally, are not the problem. The politicians that are there at the top are only playing the game. The rules need to change of that game. FF/FG/Labour will not make those changes.
However economically risky a SF and Independant led Government may be they might (and its still a big might) initiate some structural change.
Rainbow governments seem to have been successful in places like Germany and for a period of readjustment i think its what Ireland may need.

What happens then is FF et al go away and truly change because the rules have changed.

Think of any organisation, even a GAA club, change only happens when you get a maverick or a very progressive guy in as chairman and then he moves things along.

I’m voting blind to be honest. I don’t know anyone, literally anyone in my area. Due to being on the boarder of the constituancies my choices are people i have no idea of, at all. Only one poster face do i recognise.

That says it all to me. They do fucking nothing in the locality yet expect a vote. I know Jerry Buttimer and Tom O’Driscoll in the city. Weather you agree with their allegiences or not i know they work. They are involved in helping people. They get stuff done for communities. They came through the Councils so there is a connection to people. Most of the other latchicos are just family names or a smiley face used by people who have watched too much House of Cards and West Wing.

If it wasn’t for the IRA we would not have needed a peace process

True that. The loyalists with the aid of the British Army would just have murdered or locked up every catholic in the the occupied 6 and we’d all have gone about our business. Silly IRA for wanting to prevent that.

Silly, silly.
