League of Ireland 2010

BOHEMIANS have held on to five of the squad that landed the title.
Gary Deegan, Paul Keegan, Brian Shelley, Owen Heary and Glenn Cronin have agreed to stay although they cannot sign until December 1.
Bohs are still in talks with Joseph Ndo while a shock return for Glen Crowe who was told he would not be kept on has not been ruled out.
Neale Fenn has been released, while boss Pat Fenlon hopes to sign Shamrock Rovers keeper Barry Murphy and Sligo Rovers striker Raffaele Cretaro.

Former Ipswich goalkeeper chooses St Brigid’s over Gypsies
FORMER Ipswich Town man Shane Supple has turned down the chance to play Champions League football with Bohemians next season so he can concentrate on his GAA career.
Even though the 2009 season has just finished, Bohs boss Pat Fenlon is trying to prepare for next season and signing a new goalkeeper is a priority as Brian Murphy, the club’s No1 for the past three seasons, is leaving to join the Tractor Boys in the Championship.
Dubliner Supple, 22, caused a stir when he quit Ipswich earlier this year, stating that he was fed-up with football and wanted to return home to Dublin to begin a career outside of the game.
He has been playing for local GAA club St Brigid’s and has been touted for a call-up to the Dublin senior inter-county panel, but the former U21 cap is also wanted by soccer clubs and a number of League of Ireland outfits are on his trail.
However, Supple has made it clear he does not want to go back to soccer.

“We made an inquiry about Shane as we need a new keeper with Brian gone to England, but he made it clear he has no interest in playing soccer, at least not at this point in time,” Bohs boss Pat Fenlon said today.
“It’s a pity as he would have been an ideal signing if it had worked out. He’s a good age and has experience, he’s played 40 or 50 games across the water. But he has made his decision and soccer doesn’t interest him now so we’ll look elsewhere.”
Fenlon – who according to reports turned down the chance to take over at Championship side Peterborough United last week – has some work to do in preparing his squad for their attempt to win a third successive league title.
Five members of last season’s squad will not be at Dalymount Park next season: Murphy is heading to Portman Road, while Glen Crowe, Neale Fenn, Matt Gregg and Brian McCarthy (who spent most of the season on loan to Longford Town) have all been released.
A number of key players are out of contract, but Fenlon is hopeful that he can agree deals to keep most of them.
Midfielder Gary Deegan is out of contract and was linked with a number of cross-channel clubs, but Fenlon hopes that the former Shelbourne and Galway United man will stay on, along with U21 international Conor Powell.
“I hope that Gary Deegan will stay, there has been a lot of talk about him moving away but so far we have had no offers,” Fenlon says. "We have some talking to do but I hope that we’ll be able to agree something.
"And I am also confident that we’ll get Conor Powell to stay on. Conor had a great season and a lot of people now know about him, but he is happy where he is, he has been at the club for a few years now.
“But I think he feels that another year at least here would do him the world of good; he has time on his side if he wants to play abroad.”
Bohs will also try and retain the services of Joseph Ndo, even though the Cameroon player had been linked with a move to both FAI Cup finalists, Sligo Rovers and Sporting Fingal.

Cretaro deserves a chance with a big club.

I’d imagine Fingal will make a few signings also. It would really show the LOI up to be a complete shambles if Fingal won the League within three years of being founded.

Good man Shane Supple, any of the Dubs know is it realistic for him to make Dublin football panel?

Is there going to be one these this year?

Bohs, should, win league a little bit handier next season, they have the best players and the resources.

I think Shamrock Rovers will win the league by default.

Good question Runt, maybe it would save the Dublin CB a lot of money if they forgot about the Dublin football team altogether and concentrated on hurling, or ladies football.

I was talking about the League of Ireland, but that works too

I know ya

They might get one going alright but its odds on not to finish, only government funded Sporting Fingal and Shamrock have a penny to thier names and thats due to foolishness on the part of various government agencies rather than any shrewd financial management by anybody at either club, somebody needs to give this LOI thing a lethal injection and let Amatuer Soccer contest an All Ireland cup or something before the whole shambles gets any more laughable.

Shane Supple knows the score:thumbsup:

Soccer men can’t afford cars, thus they can’t get done for drink driving.

On a personal note, I will be the biggest single loss to the league in 2010.

Brian Murphy, Jay O’Shea, Richie Sadlier and Woody, all departed. Halycon days truly behind us

Bohs Top Fair Play League

Wednesday, 25 November 2009 11:13

Yet another honour for Bohemians was confirmed this week when the League of Ireland announced the finishing positions in the fair play league for the Premier Division. Bohs came top of this table, which is based on the points received for yellow cards and red cards through the 2009 season.

The top teams, in order, were Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers, Drogheda United and Galway United. This fair play achievement wins Bohemians 4,500. And the worst in the class? Bottom of the league were Dundalk.
