Did you have to do a matriculation exam after the LC as well back then?

You had a choice of doing it as the National Universities UCD Maynooth UCC and UCG used it as a means of entry along with the CAO. I didn’t do as I was going to UL. I think it was abolished by the mid 90s or thereabouts.

I was in the first year of A1, A2 etc, 1992. Second last year to do the Inter Cert

To be fair here. The Department of Education have played a blinder here. They were lucky that the English got out in front of them and made a complete fuck of their exams, but they were cute enough to learn the lessons.

This was never going to be the problem. The problem will be when the CAO offers come out. At the minute everyone’s Jimmy and Mary did above expectations so everyone is delighted
