It’s a pity the two counties minor teams aren’t playing and we could see it
They could do like they do in the UK for soccer and have a ban on showing 3pm kickoffs. Even though you can watch them in other countries.
I propose the GAA do this on a county by county basis. So for example in the case of Dublin v Offaly it is streamed, but not to anyone in Dublin or Offaly. Thus forcing them to go to the matches and allowing those of us neutrals to enjoy a game of hurling on a Saturday evening.
Great half from Offaly, their forwards are better than the Dubs.
The Dublin hurling public* will be up in arms if they lose at home to Offaly.
Dublin hurling is all about passion. The complete lack of passion for it.
It’s like this. You’re going to win fuck all ever** if you have Fergal Whiteley and lads with names like Donnacha O’Dulaing and Roibeard O’Connell-Kinsella playing for you.
Dublin hurling is like the child that does lessons for a musical instrument and never practices. The teacher gets infuriated then periodically tries to switch to being good cop to try and encourage them. It doesn’t work. Nothing works. Everybody’s time is being wasted. The solution is for the child to give up.
*@dubliner2 and nine other people.
**Dublin will probably win this match.
Dublin goal! Ronan Hayes. Level. Are Offaly about to be Offalyed?
Levels you devils
Dublin win by 3
1-25 to 2-19.
Offaly led by 2-18 to 0-21 & went back in front when Dublin goaled but Dublin reeled off the last 4 points.
Ronan Hayes appears to be the Jason Flynn of Dublin hurling. Possibly the most skilful forward Dublin have but seemingly only able to make an impact off the bench.
Dublin 1-25 Offaly 2-19
Stick that up your bollox. If Dublin ever do win a hurling all ireland it will be no thanks to watery cunts like you, sneering drom outside the tent
That RTE radio commentary is seriously annoying. Into the closing minutes and added time of a game that’s going to the wire and they keep breaking to PuC for inane score updates on David Clifford frees.
Laugh a little
Ah you sicken me hole with this shit. Loads of good people breaking their bollox to improve Dublin hurling and you sneering at their efforts.
It’s an RTE radio sport tradition going back decades to ignore the extremely close thriller coming to a climax in favour of the “top” game still in the first half.
Dublin v Offaly did well to get any sort of update at all.
Laugh a little, mate. My post contained the unmistakable bang of truth off it. Clearly it’s uncomfortable for some people.
There’s a very humourless underbelly in the GAA which often comes out in response to the gentlest bit of ribbing.
It’s 0-25 to 2-19 on gaa.ie
Were you at it?
Kilkenny were impressive enough there, I thought.
Thought it started relatively even, although Galway gave up a very soft goal early on. But Kilkenny started to get on top around their half-back line and midfield and really pressured Galway on puckouts, I felt.
I don’t think Richie Reid is a great defensive centre-back at all but Galway never tested him defensively at all, they never ran at him really. Cathal Mannion is a super player but Kilkenny were obviously happy enough to have him there as that’s not his game to go at a fella, he’ll sit off and leave Reid free. And with Carey & Deegan playing well (and Blanchfield when he came on), they just got on top in that sector.
I thought Cianán Fahy did well for Galway but, other than that, were fairly well-beaten there.
Mackessy dropping into the pockets of space got on a bit of ball too, Kenny & Molloy were busy and their deliveries were largely quite good, put the Galway FB line under a lot of pressure.
I think Mossy Keoghan is a great bit of stuff, up there with the most underrated players in the country. Eoin Cody is class but probably didn’t dictate that as much as you’d like, still came away with 1-3. The goal he did get was one only a pure goalscorer gets, although a disaster from a Galway point-of-view.
Thought Stephen Donnelly was good when he came on too although the injuries to Murphy & Mullen will be a concern as I don’t know if Kilkenny’s depth is as good as the top Munster sides.
For Galway, I don’t know really. They’re definitely not getting the best out of Whelan but he didn’t have a good game even with the ball he did get either. But then, should they be bringing him to 11 to run at Reid if the ball isn’t going in?
Tom Monahan barely touched the ball and I do think he’s a good player; Killeen similarly but I just don’t know what the plan to get those fellas on the ball was, it certainly didn’t work anyway; they were cleaned on breaking ball but also in aerial contests.
Conor Cooney looked sharp when he came on but the game was over. And I don’t know if you want to go back to be relying on him, I actually think he could be a serious impact sub.
Don’t know about Galway going forward, I think they do have the quality to still qualify from Leinster but everyone else will be licking their lips, I’d say.
I think Kilkenny are a step above the others in Leinster personally. But can’t afford Mullen to be out and I like Murphy too, his looked a bad one.
If Dublin are struggling to beat a team that was Christy Ring fodder a couple of years ago, then they’re goosed.

Listening on RTE radio 1 and Shane McGrath proud to tell his audience that hes a Principal in a Primary school .“… I havent done too bad”
Needy little fella by the sounds of it !
I heard him at that. Didn’t he go to Limerick IT as well and snuck in through Hibernia? He was saying some physio on the line had been in his year in Flannan’s and must’ve been smarter than him. DOC O’ Connor noted on the Wexford hurling podcast that Jack Grealish had a real tendency for pulling and dragging and the commentators seemed to allude to that today. He must’ve been pulled up for it.
