Those songs are all cringe, granted, but are they on a level of Munster Rubby Supporters Choir cringe? I don’t think so.
When they go back to RDS it’ll only be 20,000. That’s handy to sell. Could be another two seasons in Lansdowne mind you.
Are we human or are we Leinster is a question I often pondered myself when you’d meet one of them
That is … Magnificent
Leinster exceptionalism
They’ve stopped that or else I need to reconsider my drinking habits
Will be up to 25k
It’s been like that for a good few years now actually
Thank Christ. The home supporters in Thomond useta be mortified with the operatic high notes from Nuala.
All the better. The right amount.
Leinster rugby supporters will stop going to games because Leinster Rugby use all their wealth, connections, and a bit of old boys club skullduggery to pummel some unfortunate visitors with far more meagre resources who they can happily sneer at? I’d be dubious about that.
Was last night’s match a Heineken Cup match? Seemed to be very low profile for a quarter final if it was?
You seem to comment on an awful lot of rugby for a fella who claims not to care.
Yep, it was a Heineken Cup QF. Not much buzz or buildup to the game as it was all arranged with one week’s notice. Leinster still got a decent crowd.
Ah it was a shit crowd. But I wouldn’t blame Leinster for it. The competition structure is a joke
I’d argue Leinster attendances have been suppressed by the product (and to a degree the facilities).
The vast majority of season ticket games would be a procession at the RDS by a B/C team.
If you look from 2005 to 2013 or so, attendances rocketed as Leinster got more space/improved experience at the RDS / Aviva and obviously the quality improved.
Growth then levelled off, this around the time Leinster were (a) not allowed sign foreign superstars (b) increasingly played B/C team and (c) dominated with those teams. I’d also add that the turnover in tv broadcasters has not been ideal, with games moving yearly it seems from being Friday evening affairs to Saturday ones back to Friday evening. Similar for all but I do think the likes of Munster petitioned for more Saturday ones which is fair enough really given the distances involved there.
What this year shows that with a sprinkle of star power and improved facilities that the market is there to grow it. Season ticket holders up 25% as they had the space to afford it but it’s capped again.
I think Leinster could comfortably sell 20k season tickets if there were a more consistent quality of game on offer and had better player availability.
Jesus thats grim. A good sentiment though in trying to encourage a better atmosphere. They just needed someone with a track record of making up belter crowd songs that took off immediately…
“Na na na na na na na Jackman”.
You know it!
