He was brought in very early by ger cunningham. Heās been a main man since
He lost his place under Gilroy I thought in 2018, hardly got a look in, which in hindsight was probably the making of him.
Iāve now seen us play in the flesh for the first time in a year & I donāt think weāll win Leinster now.
Went to CP this evening to watch that poor fare. I honestly donāt think the Mayo footballers have ever shot themselves in the foot as bad as Wexford did this evening.
ROC was really effective as an inside forward in the first half scoring 2 points and winning 2 frees. O Donnell was also on a yellow. Whose bright idea was to play him as a mf in the 2nd half.
The Wex wides were criminal. Liam Og had 3. Mikie Dwyer had a cruel one. Carty with a stupid effort.
Dublin got away easy. Burke was unerring tonight and as someone else said earlier they scored 23 times from 29 attempts. They were poxed with Lawlor coming headless off the line for the goal. He is a poor IC keeper. Also very lucky not to concede a goal before HT with Dunbarr off the crossbar and Paddy Smyth salvaging a 2 vs 1. There are some very poor but honest hurlers on that Dublin team that will be horribly found out in the next few rounds against better opposition.
Youāve much more eloquently said what I posted after the match.
My model had Wexford winning that 1-29 to 0-22 on xP.
Iāve got conflicting emotions here because I think that defeatās on the players for the most part. While many are lamenting the team structure, use of players like ROC & not having enough bodies in attack, they still created loads of chances & itās not like all the wides were speculative, long distance efforts & caused by Eganās set up. We still worked the ball into scoring positions & 6 or 7 should have been gimmes at this level.
But another part of me is irked at BDE. I think Rory took a free on our own 14 yard line in the right corner back area near the end & knocked it across to the keeper to solo out & loft the ball forward. WTF. I donāt know how Dee OāKeeffe (albeit not great the last day) goes from starting to not being used at all. Iād have expected him to be useful in those latter stages particularly. A couple of other questionable switches & personnel decisions too.
It was turgid stuff, WX should have won handily but a lot of the wides under zero pressure were inexcusable
It was madness from Egan. You put your best forward closest to goal surely.
Rory OāConnor had 3 points from play and was unlucky not to have had a goal as well inside 20 minutes of the first half. He was unlucky. It was a great effort which rattled the crossbar.
He was out the field then thereafter. Made no sense.
Surely Kilkenny will once again do the needful for their good friends Wexford and pummel Dublin by 22 points before turning up to Wexford Park in a benevolent mood and losing by 3.
Wexford were brutal but somehow I think they have one big performance in them against Kilkenny yet. Who theyāve had some success against in recent years. I could be on drugs though.
Youāre right as well. Our hatred for getting bet by Kilkenny will see us through.
Na I just donāt see it. KK are far off what they once were but Wexford under Egan just donāt do it for me at all. The panel look flogged to death.
Too many Thomas Musters and Gustavo Kuertens, not enough Stefan Edbergs and Andre Agassis.
How did you find watching the game live last night?
I didnāt watch it live, unless youāre referring to the last 24 minutes of the Down v Kildare under 20 football semi-final, which I did watch live.
Sorry, I had some idea you were in CP.
Kilkenny in Corrigan Park, Belfast today. Kilkenny donāt have a good record in Championship hurling at that venue. If the hand of history is an accurate guide here, it would suggest an Antrim win.
Goal Mossy Keoghan. Lovely ball from Phelan to Donnelly to set it up.
Cameraman is worse than me trying to video matches.
Goal TJā¦ left in acres of space and found with a long ball. Madness from Antrim.
Unbelievable goal from Molloy! Really good from Antrim since TJās goal. Skill levels are good.
