First blood for Belvedere, 7-0.
14-0 Belvedere. This is looking like a rout.
Was that lad crying after coming off?
Full-time: Belvedere 31 Roscrea 7.
An underwhelming renewal of the competition this year.
God be with the days when I would have done a witty 2,000 word preview and match report on each match in the competition.
Congratulations to the forum’s Belvedere fans.
Seemingly it was at Coach Schmidt’s request. With an ever increasing injury list, some of today’s all conquering Belvedere team could well feature in next Saturday’s match day squad to face Scotland.
Great day for us Belvedereans. Thanks for the good wishes guys.
Paddy Cullen’s was hopping when I passed by around 15 minutes ago.
Bit of a stir on O’Connell Street
After all the negative publicity the north inner city has had in recent weeks it’s great to see the area doing itself proud on the rugby pitch.
I’m told there were black and white flags all over the area in the run up to the final.
It’s a victory the locals will no doubt be rightly proud of.
The north inner city is rugby country.
The really big one takes place tomorrow though. A 3pm kick off at Ravenhill involving two of the bluebloods - Royal Belfast Academical Institution v Campbell College. Its live on BBC2 Northern Ireland.
No methody, no party
We had a guy working for us who went to Royal Belfast. His achievements on his CV noted that he was “Head Boy” in the school.
It’s a yellow pack “traditional final”.
A 31st title for the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. Incredibly its the first time they’ve retained it since the last of their 6 in a row in 1948.
That’s a huge achievement mate, does your organisation not appreciate leaders of men?
I see you gave him the job.
@GeoffreyBoycott your post about the Jesuits going for their first Leinster-Munster double since '51 piqued my interest. I see it would actually have been a Leinster-Munster-Connacht Treble with the Jes taking home the Connacht title. They must be the only Order who could possibly do that. Ulster of course is Prod so winning all four is impossible. I’d be interested to know if they’ve ever managed it.
The Holy Ghost, Carmelites, Marists, various Prod schools & Presentation Brothers don’t have the geographic spread. Only two CB schools play rugby.
Has there ever been a Protestant clean sweep of all four provinces?
I don’t think a Prod school has ever won in Connacht or Munster but could be wrong. The last Leinster Prod school was The High School in 1973. John Robbie played a starring role.
Robbie and Ian Burns was the half-back combination. Poetry in motion, so they were.
