No surprise there i can count on one hand the number of kickouts weve won in the last year,forwards were poor against limerick too hopefully when the ground hardens a bit it might suit them better

Poor fare. Outplayed all day by 2 big lads Murphy and Foley at m/f. Carlow deployed their f/f as a sweeper behind the c/h/b throughout o_O (that was until the chb got a straight red on 36m).
Clarke was plain stupid, threw a harmless box and walked. Mulligan on fire all day scored 8 pts (5 from play). Brendan Flynn in goals with 2 point blank stops. We missed about 6 goal chances. Manor Glancy with 1-02. His confidence is rattled and his first touch is fucked. Same applies re first touch for McDonald. Top performances from Flynn, Paddy Maguire, Williams and Paul Brennan. Forwards moving nicely but the killer punch lacking between over-playing it or poor selection. Conor Beirne with a cameo appearance ( he’s wintered well). Work to do all round.

What are we going to do about midfield
Hard to say. We coped today via sterling workrate by surrounding players and the Carlow pairing’s decisions to “give her sky”. Their full forward being 80 yds away played into our hands. In fairness to Wayne McKeon he puts in the hard graft, harrying and chasing. Paddy McGowan didn’t start, I don’t know what the problem is. Either way we’re likely to be conceding physical presence hereabouts all year. Mossy Beirne would provide the physical presence but has he the legs for it. He was on the bench today along with Robbie Lowe. Further experimentation needed. Cian Reynolds won’t cut it at this level either. He lasted 50 mins, scored 1 point and was replaced by Ray Cox (0-01). Of your men Maguire was top notch, drove forward at every opportunity. Glancy and McDonalds first touch looked poor but Hickey was all action and kicked 2 good points.
Hickey has come on well the last year or two pity the younger lad has no intrest,maguires a good lad for drivin forward alright,we won’t go to far till we get midfield sorted
I was speaking to a knowledgeable Sligo football man this morning. He said that:
- They couldn’t believe you stayed on the pitch celebrating the FBD League Final victory for an hour;
