Up Leitrim @upleitrim
What are you getting at here - who spent 5 hours on a bus ?
According to Brian Gordon, Treasurer of Leitrim County Board, the County Board is in a âstrong financial positionâ.
Makes a mockery really of banning overnight stays and failing to stump up half the fare to take the lads to NYC for the last two years after winning FBD.
And we have only 3 away games in the league.very frustrating as our chance of promotion is over before we even start.

Surely this is the reason why they are in a strong financial position? How are the development structures in Leitrim, is money being well spent there?
How many countys are in leitrims position of not being in debt I wonder,i remember in the late 90s reading an article on how much money countys were raising and Leitrim were in 3rd place behind Dublin and Kerry those days seem to be long gone,it does seem a bit mean not putting them up the night before for some away games alright but that spot in annaduff has to be paid for I suppose
Whatever about the NYC trips, but he announced that Leitrim were in a strong position PRIOR to asking for no more overnight stays.
There is a training centre in Annaduff which is unfinished.
With all due respect to Annaduff, why was the centre located there in the first place. Fine for lads from the local clubs but unfair on the Manors and other northern clubs.
The fucking white elephant ought to have been located in the general Kiltubrid/Drumshanbo area as a more central location.

Boxty - now that I have you here, whatâs the story with Donal Wrynn? I notice he wasnât on the panel for the match on Sunday. Is he involved with some of the colleges? Hopefully he hasnât withdrawn for the year as well?
Shane Moran of Ballinamore? He hasnât been heard of since the joke of beergate in 2013.
He was with DCU last year Farmer. Presumably still with them. Can someone check if he played last weekend ?

Next Sunday marks a special day for Mohill GAA Club when their redeveloped pitch is renamed and rededicated in memory of the last Philly McGuinness.
In 1935 Canon Masterson blessed the newly refurbished GAA Park in Mohill and named it after the patron saint of the area St Manchan. The work on the Park had cost ÂŁ3000, a massive amount of money in those days.
Seventy years on and it will be a bitter sweet day for the McGuinness family on Sunday next January 11, when St Manchanâs Park will be officially renamed The Philly McGuinness Park in memory of young Philly who on April 17, 2010 received a fatal injury while playing in a League game with Melvin Gaels in Annaduff. An accidental incident that shocked the nation.
Our thoughts on Sunday will be with Phillys family, his mother Phil his two brothers, John and Michael and the extended family
President Elect of the GAA AogĂĄn Ă Fearghail, Pat Quill, National President of the Ladies Association and local clergy will officiate at the ceremony on Sunday next at 1 pm before the FBD League game. The McGuinness Family will be guests of honour while Connacht GAA Council Secretary John Prenty and Leitrim GAA County Board Chairman Terence Boyle will also grace the occasion.
As in 1939 the Park has experienced a huge face lift in the last four years. Like 1935 it was a costly business, but we can now boast of one of the finest playing surfaces in the County. Contractor Frank Reynolds, a Mohill clubman, was responsible for laying this great all weather pitch.
Plans are underway to improve our dressing room facilities. Mohill GAA Club have an excellent hard working Executive in situ led by Chairman Padraig McLoughlin, Sec. Gary Canning, Frank McGowan, SiobhĂĄn Doyle and Stephen Macklin joint Treasurers.
Thanks to the County Board we will have the pleasure of hosting an FBD Insurance Connacht League game Leitrim versus Galway in the Park at 2pm.
The last time Mohill GAA Club hosted a Senior Inter-county game, according to experts, was a League game with Monaghan in the 69/70 season.
Mohill GAA Club hope to see a large crowd coming to witness this auspicious occasion and to honour the memory of Philly McGuinness.

Delighted that it is in memory of Philly.
Of course nothing is mentioned there to say that the ÂŁ3,000 was raised by Mohill parish for the use of the pitch by Mohill parish (including Eslin).
Nothing said either that entry to the pitch by the Eslin team was blocked back in the 1970s by Mohill clubmen on the grounds that it was Mohillâs pitch.
I am pleased to say that now relations between Eslin and Mohill GAA are genuinely good, mainly because a lot of those ignoramuses are now old men.
