Leitrim Matters, the home of sitka spruce

I never knew that Edwina is Butt’s granddaughter. She didn’t take after him in terms of taking alcohol anyway! Those Guckians would be FF royalty - wasn’t one of the lads at Selton Hill a relation?

So many Guckians over that neck of the woods, some around Fenagh/Gorvagh but none anywhere else across the whole globe I’d suggest.

Paddy Guckian was indeed a survivor of the Selton Hill fiasco. I’ve never looked into the proliferation or otherwise of the Guckian clan. We had a pair of warriors around the turn of the century who gave sterling service to the club. Patrick subsequently took up the whistle and got dogs abuse for sending off an SoH miscreant in their losing final a few years ago. His appetite for the refereeing dissipated afterwards.
Solid clubmen still putting in the hard yards with the juveniles. Mol an óige and all that.

Farmer had them corralled fairly accurately. I’ve never given it any consideration there’s so many of them around us. Clearly warrants investigation - have they fled some other bleak outpost or misdemeanour?

They must have recaptured the lad who escaped to Dublin by 1911.

I’d imagine that they’d be somewhat related to the Cap’s branch of the tribe - extraneous cousins of some kind. Michael Guckian would have been a councillor since the late 60’s possibly, he was a bit of a legend really. Sinéad Guckian didn’t seek reelection in 2019 after 20 years, probably fed up with the whole ráiméas attaching to it but she was keen to pursue more artistic pursuits. She the arty type is Sinéad.
You can hardly visualise the Cap having the energy or vision that Edwina exudes now can you……

Not quite up there in the annals of Carrigallen with the night they had Samantha Fox in the hall.

The amount of liquor sold in the town and surrounding areas was unprecedented and then the event had to be aborted as unruly clashes erupted inside and outside the venue leading to bloodshed.

The allegedly unperturbed Sam was surreptitiously escorted to safety and order restored …
Heady days in the sleepy village :pint: :pint: :pint:

If ye couldn’t manage Sam Fox ye’d have no hope if ye won Sam Maguire.
