Let's All Laugh At McIIroy

Be great to see Irelandā€™s top, top sportsman win another heap of majors when he switches to Titleist balls and some better clubs. Gentleman Rory will clean up when he gets rid of those Nike Clubs and gets a decent putter

Is he not contracted to use them?

Sure if they are not making them anymore, what happens then? Heā€™s hardly gonna go out and play with a set of two year old clubs like some club golfer

What a nice young man, truly the peopleā€™s champ

Titlest balls are shit. I used them last weekend and not one of them went where it was supposed to

Maybe it was the clubs pal? Surely time for an upgrade. It definitely wasnā€™t your fault

Twitter must be the greatest gift in history to ā€œjournalistsā€

Sure the story writes itself when a top sportsman like ā€œRorsā€ can take time out from worrying about his own game to spare a precious moment to think of the people at Nike who didnā€™t do a good enough job in making decent equipment for him. What a humble and forgiving guy he is

Iā€™m predicting three majors next year now. This is a massive break for Rory.

You should have tried Titleist, they are much better.

Theyā€™ve created a lovely pitching wedge loft.

A bad workman blames his tools.

My question is will NIKE still have to pay out on the contract?

Hope they werenā€™t ProV1s at 5 euro a pop.

Especially when youā€™re losing one on every hole because the fucking things wonā€™t fly straight like theyā€™re supposed to.

Why would they not need to pay out on the contract? Seems odd. He kept up his end of it ā€¦fair foresight if they built in a clause allowing them to break it if they stopped manufacturing equipment! Maybe @artfoley can advise but not sure that would be reasonable clause, as it would be completely unilateral decision

Reading between the lines it would seem that Nike gave up manufacturing Golf equipment purely to disassociate themselves from McIlroy

Ha ha, I wouldnt blame them for that TBH, he is a mere shadow of the player they signed. And every time he opens his gob he makes an eejit of himself.

He also has form for having poor legal advice I guess having pursued the Horizon case to the ends of the earth and just folded then and forked out $25 bar to settle it; so maybe he did enter a dud contract with them as well.

Didnā€™t Nike pay off that lawsuit out of his sponsorship deal to just make them go away? Christ they must miss Tiger and his whoring genius in comparison to this dullards shiteness
