I think liquidation looks more likely than a successful emergence from administration. They have to be out by 31 March I think the date is so keeping them ticking over until the summer is not likely when they haven’t paid their current tax bill and when they have the judgement to come.

I don’t think the value of those players will put a proper dent in the debt and unless there’s some way of getting HMRC away from the negotiating table I think the huns as we know them are likely enough to be wound up.

The next stage then is whether they can do some sort of asset transfer to a new club (which carries a 3 year penalty from Europe) and if so, what the SPL and SFA would say and how HMRC will contest that. I think ultimately the solution might be a new huns company who will have some sort of long-term financing arrangement to lease the stadium or something.

Still a big piece of the puzzle missing though, namely what has happened to the ticketus money and the new tax bill? Where has that money gone. Seems to be some speculation that has been lent to a Craig Whyte company maybe so that he becomes a creditor and can participate in the administration. But hard to see how HMRC wouldn’t still have more than 25% of the debt (and so the chance to block any administration arrangement).

Would they reform as a hunlimited company?

IN response to comments made by First Minister Alex Salmond, the club have released the following statement:

“We are very disappointed with the First Minister’s claims that Celtic ‘need’ Rangers and that Celtic ‘can’t prosper unless Rangers are there’”.

"This is simply not true. In a series of interviews given just three days ago, we made it abundantly clear that Celtic has a well-defined strategy and a business plan independent of the fortunes of any other club. That remains absolutely the case.

“The predicament of Rangers is clearly a serious and complex matter with a whole range of possible outcomes.

“However, we are extremely well-qualified to make our own position clear and have no wish to see this being misrepresented for political reasons .”
