Re:Let’s All Laugh At Rangers Thread

Total football magazine is bigoted.

Re:Let’s All Laugh At Rangers Thread

At the end of last week, a group of protesters in the Catalan city emptied their bladders into bottles, labelled them up and sealed them and sent one batch to the city authorities as a protest against their lack of preparation for the visit of Rangers fans and their lack of action in the face of the disturbances local people had to put up with.

They said in a note that accompanied the bottles to the town hall: "You knew 20,000 Rangers fans were coming and that only 6,000 of them had tickets for the game, and that the rest would be in the streets getting drunk and behaving with their usual aggressiveness, bearing in mind what these supporters did recently on their visits to Villarreal and Pamplona.

“This goes much further than the four tonnes of rubbish and the litres of urine that they left us with as a parting gift. Worst of all was having to watch them humiliate us in our own city while the police did nothing.”

As part of the same protest, the group has sent a second batch of bottles to Rangers in Glasgow, with a message this time reading: “This is to express our congratulations for the pleasantness and respect you showed to the people of Barcelona, and to show you that, from now on, we intend to treat you in exactly the same way.”

Celtc FC will do anything to win this league, will we?

The financial dynamic between Rangers and Celtc has dramatically changed with the advent of the Champions League.

Without either club ever having had the choice, both have been drawn into a financial contest that has such monetary implications that failure to win threatens the very existence of each of them.

A run of league failures and the loss of this cash cow, in the face of the others success and consequent remuneration, could seriously jeopardize the failing clubs entire existence or ability to compete at the same level.
This situation never existed to the same degree before the Champions League, where the divvy up of available income was so much more equitable in a far more cosy football environment.

Celtc founded under a purely business ethos, have always been far more pragmatic than their rivals.
Forget the charity front, behind the scenes Celtc were always a money making operation for those who put the Club into being, and who have since lived off its profit making ability.
Charity was a design to give it a respectable veneer which enabled this business to capture the hearts of its Roman Catholic Irish Emigrant audience.

Rangers were at first, and to this day survive as a far more naive brother to their younger and more commercially nous rival.
Founded for no other reasons than for the sport itself, for the game that they played, our founders had nothing to offer or gain than that of the pure pleasure of playing football.
Despite Murray, at heart we are the same club.

Rangers often spent more over the years than Celtc, but that was because our club was not a money making enterprise for anyone, more it was a social journey where prestige and attachment gave anyone connected all that they desired.
No one took out more than they had put in.
A sporting club and no more.

It was Celtc where the directors spivvied and sponged all that was available, and each and every enterprise the club concocted had a commercial value with profit the trophy that always mattered the most.

Today we know that this year’s league has enormous implications for both clubs.

Strachan, no matter his failings is not the type of man to want to win at any cost.
Nothing in his past suggests that he would ever advocate the use of unrestrained violence to achieve his football goals.
In short he might be a pest but he is not an animal.

Rangers since the return of Walter have coped very admirably with Celtc and the physical side of the Old Firm game.
However it is not because we are physical in the extreme, but because we have set our stall out to beat them with a defensive formation with very good defensive players in every area of the pitch.
Good defensive players do not give away many free kicks because they are just that, good at defending.
Cuellar, Papac, Hemdani, Davis, Thomson. Dailly, Ferguson even Novo, are not dirty players, thay are just hard working and good at defending.
This is the rock of our success this year.
Hell we even kept Barcelona to a 0-0 yet hardly conceded a free kick.

Now we look back at Wednesday’s Old Firm game.
Hindsight is of course the most exact of sciences.
But still, let us indulge ourselves anyway.

From the first minute Barry Robson makes a rash dangerous and injury threatening challenge on Dailly.
Luckily Dailly emerged unscathed, but the ‘old campaigner’ himself knew that he had suffered a near miss.

Shortly after, Jimmy Vinegar goes in on McGregor, it was indeed a fifty fifty and the ‘Dutch Lump of Wood’ had every right to challenge for the ball, but as McGregor gets there first, he still viciously swipes out anyway and almost takes our goalkeepers head off.
Near miss number two.
Rarely in football have I seen such a reckless challenge on any goalkeeper, and it might have had very serious repercussions but for the ‘Grace of God’ so to speak.
That it went totally unremarked by commentators and phress, sadly is now part of Scottish football mhedia furniture.

However it was only minutes before the ‘coup de gras’, and this was a red card meriting over the top, studs raised tackle on the vulnerable ball winning foot and ankle of Lee McCulloch.
As Hartley’s illegal exocet challenge impacted, I knew instantly that McCulloch had to go off, that he didn’t was a huge mistake.
Nonetheless, everything before had led to this, the crippling of one of our players, and the extra match winning edge that this dishonorable shower needed, had been achieved.

Should we be surprised?
Already the maneuverings off the park suggested that this will be a title fought for, without sporting scruple nor any eye for human decency.
The tragic death of a player or the international ambitions of a footballing nation are just opportunities to be exploited to achieve the goal.
Indeed the end will justify the dark means.
Because there is only the financial bottom line.

Strachan might have winced at events on the field on Wednesday, I don’t know, but I suspect that the power brokers of Shame F.C. cared not a jot.
They need this title, they need the money.
Already they had recognised that ‘Wee Proddy Gordon’ would not be prepared to go the extra mile beyond decency required to win at any cost.
Yes even the loss of limb, career and probably even the health of an opposition player.

So exactly that, and for that reason I believe, is why we have seen the re-introduction at the Septic Stadium of someone with the morality of an IRA Godfather;
step forward Neil Lennon.
I don’t for one second believe that Strachan himself sought this man out.
Why should he?

Believe me, for anyone in doubt, this is a club that in search of a Queens head on the back of a sheet of paper, will not step back from the abyss of any dark art that will gain them success.

The question is, as we enter a new and more dangerous and challenging era in our history, are we as a Club prepared to fight fire with fire?

The club will never back the fans i have learnd that from a run in with lawrence macintyre and a would expect a whole lot less from that prick scott now who is meant to be in charge of our security. Only the bears can look after theyre own and the sooner we all realise that the better.

Talking to a Yahoo today who reckoned Strachan fell back on his old managers tactic of hoofing as many of the opposition as possible as early as possible by as many different players as possible.

The earlier the better because the ref will baulk at sending someone off in the first five/ten minutes.

Edit… Excellent article - especially the piece about the origins of that club.

I would not forget the Nationalist/ anti British agenda the founders used to amass enough income to make the club Britain’s (sic) richest club within two years of it’s formation.

Despite SFA efforts to crack down on such abuses, the amateur status of the game was coming under increasing pressure as the larger clubs became more and more profitable. By 1890 Celtic were garnering 5000 per year, the most successful club in Britain at the time. Only so much money could be diverted into improving the ground and charity contributions.

From the SFA Website.

Agree 200% with everything there. It can be no coincidence that the behaviour of those scumbags in that game took a malevolent turn since the reappearance of the Lurgan bigot. And with this gameplan in mind, they needed only one more component to fulfil their nefarious objective;

Quote:
“That it went totally unremarked by commentators and phress, sadly is now part of Scottish football mhedia furniture.”

It was not them who I was concerned about as they are an irrelevance to the outcome of the game itself and we are now well accustomed to their bias. Far more sinister was the blind eye turned to the unwashed’s filthy tactics by the officials in charge of the game. The utterly reprehensible Clark was a willing accomplice in the maiming of one of our players and his failure to control the animals was a dereliction of duty.

Insightful post. There is no doubt that we have been less successful in establishing our brand. Let’s honest - we are not separatists by nature. We are ordinary Scots, mainly Protestant, and free. They were set up with a sectarian agenda - we were not. We have always assumed that our beliefs in freedom to choose, support for our country, democracy, the crown etc would always prevail.

They lie and often suceed through that. It pervades their club which though rotten to the core through religious prejudice and child abuse, coupled with overt support for evil regimes - from Nazis to child-killing terrorists - has made people think that their cause is more noble than those who uphold our constitution, remember our fallen and feel a close affinity with our country of Scotland within the nation of the United Kingdom that preserves our freedom and gives Scotland its special place.

They will not suceed in football terms though. We may never integrate their hordes of misled adherents, but we will always be the greatest football team and we will win the trophiers this season.

Someday, hopefully soon, we will play them at their own PR game, and put them where they belong. They already have a dustbin history - some day, I pray, they will be consigned there.

An excellent post, for years now Celtic have had a win at all costs attitude while we’ve stuck with being dignified and it’s cost us big time in recent years.

Wonderful read, thoughtful and accurate. The silence from the mhedia is understandable, the Tims have worked well in turning our country into a little “Oirland” over the years and have infiltrated local government and the press until they established a power base. If every Bear can see the danger, and realise there is little time to act left because they grow more powerful every day, why the F can’t the British establishment and, from a purely football slant, the power brokers at Ibrox?

Very good read and i have to say that you are totally spot on with Ra Sellicks need to “win at all costs!”

Any football team who use the death of a former player to gain advantage because of some of their players being injured and suspended DESERVE nothing in the game.

Re: Celtc FC will do anything to win this league, will we?

some times I wonder how deep this irish/ira mafia connection actually goes and how far they would be prepared to take it to remove any who criticsie or stand up to their club !!!
Before the last old firm game I was worried that celtic might try to ‘do a job’ on our players, I was right. With a different ref in charge for the next one,if he does call it as he sees it there will be no way celtic will finish with eleven players on the pitch. Celtic will not want us to play football, they can slag us for our ‘anti-football’ but deep down they know that if they let us pass the ball about we would destroy them.

These awards don’t really mean scheidt and I’ll be gutted if they go on and win the league as that’s what matters but they’re going nuts in hunland due to McGeady getting Players’ Player of the Year and the Hamilton manager getting Manager of the Year and it’s pretty funny to read. Follow Follow’s loyal regulars are venting their spleen about the ‘taig fest’, ‘the Irish traitor’ and the likes:

I at least have to give Shaun Maloney some credit, he won both and at least played for two to three months of the season.

How that fukin’ Ladybhoy won any let alone both is an absolute scandal.

I don`t give a fuck if they name Shellik as the team of the century tonight

I only care that our name is on the prizes at the end of the season

Once again these things will be used as a spur by Rangers

Phuck them, they will win nothing that means anything this season.

And these awards will be shown up for what they are.

the event should be boycotted from this point on - the only awards ceremony worthy of note is the rangers player of the year awards.

What an utter, utter disgrace. If I were McGeady I would be embarrassed to receive those awards. Any number of Rangers players have been better than him this season (albeit that he is a talented player): Cuellar and McGregor to name but a few.

Absoloute disgrace. I could count the number of good games Mcgeady had on one hand so far this season.

The Scottish POTY awards remind me of the voting in the Eurovision song contest. ie. one big farce. Why do we bother having these awards if people are not going to be honest when making their decisions.

whats the story behind that quote again? another Lawell special i seem to remember…

Funniest part of that is how they blame the media. It was the PFA awards - voted for by the players. Cuellar won the award given by the media. No point in throwing logic at them though.

I thought the funniest part was the lad who asked “How can you win the Player and Young Player awards”

well if you are the best player and you are young…

More crazy and deranged shit on Follow Follow today:

My father didn’t leave me much if the truth be told, however if there is one thing that I should be eternally grateful to that wee grey haired man, it would be his unshiftable desire to instill some love of Rangers football team and all that goes with it. I’ll be honest, when your two or three you don’t always appreciate being dragged along to watch the teddy bears especially through the hail and snow. But as the years progressed and as I moved from toddler to boy, youth to teenager, and from man to middle aged man, I have finally reached pensionable age. It was that great reformation writer William Shakespeare who wrote about the seven ages of mankind, now I finally grasp what he means.

Billy Shakespeare would not have found himself out of place at modern Ibrox. He could easily have written some of his greatest works there, as he would be surrounded by characters he would have recognized;

Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, Julius Ceasar… Down the years we have had some great Shakesperian characters. Richard Gough = Hamlet, a tortured soul forced to live with inner turmoil. Othello= Mark Walters a man driven mad by his enemies who baited him. Caliban= Davie Dodds, a hideously deformed creature whose facial features appalled all who saw him.

Rangers is an experience, a real experience, you don’t watch Rangers you LIVE Rangers. We touch depths that nobody else can, that is why we are feared and hated in equal measure. That’s all I have to say.

Thought it would be appropriate to bring this one back to the first page.

Motherwell 1 Rangers 1

Bandage I sense that you are more happy that Rangers lost it than Celtic winning it.

You sense incorrectly Shan but seeing them hurting so badly is fantastic too.

I never had anything against Rangers until last weeks display in Manchester and costing United A Champions League winners Parade. They deserved what they got last night.
