The 08 kilkenny beat a pitiful limerick performance in 07 and dreadful Waterford in 08. Tipp gave them a few classic battles afterwards. Those Limerick team faced the tail end of that tipp team (who deservedly won 19) and a long coming Galway team who crossed the line in 17 with one of the GOATS of the game Joe.
Now add in an exceptional team in Waterford and what will be a good ( if not great if Limerick stop) cork team.
In their era KK were unstoppable. Deserved of saying best of their era if not ever. Along with many teams in the decade. The modern game moved on but this limerick team is at least up there. With hopefully more to come
I wouldn’t call that an exceptional Waterford team.

Bit harsh there to call it pitiful, well outclassed from pillar to post in that final but battled manfully to the finish in a game that was over inside ten minutes, 09 V Tipp was pitiful.

Good underage pedigree and probably would have beat cork/kk in a semi. Game Limerick the toughest game of the championship.

Fair enough analysis. If you took the 60 mins afterwards into account. They gave great joy that year. The semi vs Waterford was the best I saw limerick till 2’13. In living memory. I bearly remember 96

I’d argue Tipp gave them a tougher game. Waterford are still short a few as they always do.
No argument about that first half. Tipp had Limerick found out. A few adjustment and there was no more about it
Tipp looked like beating Limerick, Waterford never did.
Waterford v tipp. Who who you fancy? On 21 I would go woth Waterford by 2 points I say.
No doubt tipp had the better of Limerick and a better chance of beating them on how they set up in 1st half
50:50 game at the moment.
Who has a better chance of beating Limerick in the future with forwards and potential panel depth then I would say Tipp.
