There once was a young man named Hegs,
His body was three quarters legs,
He tackles too hard,
But ends up with no card,
And leaves opponents beaten like eggs
Three All Ireland’s in 80 years is some going in fairness.
The best thing about this Limerick team is that they’ll win it any way you play it.
They’ll win it in a normal year, they’ll win it in a pandemic, they’ll win it with a white sliotar, they’ll win it with a yellow sliotar, they’ll win it through the front door, they’ll win it through the back door, they’ll win it if you play it long, they’ll win it if you play it short.
It’s ludicrous to suggest we’ll dominate like Dublin or prime Kilkenny, though. Tag on one more and they’d have surpassed the Clare team of the 90’s, the Offaly team of the 80’s, the Galway team of the 80’s and pretty much every team outside of the traditional Big 3.
They’ve broken the mould either way, that second All-Ireland copperfastens they’re a special group. Officially not a fluke.
It seems like five minutes ago I was sat in Thurles of a Thursday night watching us getting pumped by a dreadfully mediocre Offaly team. Even more recently we limped over Westmeath in Mullingar. Routinely hammered at minor and u-21.
This is our greatest ever team. Just lucky enough to have lived through it.
Kiely > Jesus.
I have to say I would always thought Jesus was fairly limited up front for City in truth.
Winter has come for all other hurling counties
That Limerick half back line are top 3 of all time now, easily moving past the Cork strikers.
Do back to back and we’re better than Tipp of the last decade.
A very good side. They will have to win 2 in a row to be considered great
I would say, this years may not count all as an equal in the back to back. It’s just such a different year. But this team can do 3 in a row so that shouldn’t matter
This Limerick team is only at the beginning of their journey
Six players who contributed in 2018 are gone while two more did not play in this championship due to long term injuries.
A lot done and more to do
Who are the 6?
The Dow, Hickey, McCarthy, Condon, Browne Downes?,
I think there is 10 or 11 gone from the 36 players in the 2018 All Ireland photo
Barry O’Connell, Barry Murphy, Malachy, Alan Dempsey?
Seamless transition. Sign of a great side.
This is no golden generation.
It’s a green wave.
Barry Murphy and Colin Ryan played a part in 2018
Downes, Browne, O’Connell had little part.
Another handful of the 27-36 also moved on
A green monster.
When you think Ronan Lynch isn’t in top 40 or 50 players in Limerick… And Na Piarsaigh only one guy starting…
Oisin Reilly gone as well.
