From Jerome in The Leader.

LIMERICK will have a new minor hurling management team for the 2021 season.

Mungret’s Kevin O’Hagan is to be the new inter-county U17 hurling manager.

His coach-selectors are Liam Hammersley (Cappamore), Liam Reale (Hospital-Herbertstown), Mark Keane (South Liberties) and Ger Barry (Killeedy). Darragh Doog will be the team’s strength and conditioning coach.

All have been involved with Limerick Underage Academy teams in recent seasons and are well known coaches across the county.

As well as their work at Limerick Underage Hurling Academy level, most have experience of club management at Limerick SHC level.

The new minor hurling management team will be ratified at the next Limerick County Board meeting.

Ger Barry and Darragh Droog remain in situ from the 2020 minor management team, which had Diarmuid Mullins as manager.

Hammersley, Reale and Keane were part of the Limerick U16 management in 2020, while Kevin O’Hagan was with the county U15s.

Reale was previously involved with the Limerick minors in 2017.

Three time All-Ireland U21 winner Mark Keane was part of the South Liberties senior hurling backroom team last year.

Kevin O’Hagan follows in the footsteps of his late father Raymond - a Limerick senior football manager in the 1980s.

The 2020 minor hurling championship is yet to finish. Munster champions Limerick have yet to play Galway in the All-Ireland MHC semi final, with the winner into the final against the Leinster champions Kilkenny or Offaly.

Is it safe to assume the 2020 All Ireland minor championship latter stages won’t go ahead and they’ll plough into 2021 whenever they can?

Currently still supposed to be going ahead at earliest opportunity, but longer this goes on makes it a doubt. They should make a call on it either way by mid to late Feb, it’s unfair on the young lads to procrastinate further

Am I right in saying the Leinster final has not yet been played ??

Yes but Leinster Final winners go straight into All Ireland Final, so essentially there’s 2 Semis and a Final left

Yes .

Hard to see All Ireland Series going ahead at Minor Level. I’d say the Leinster Final might be played, but that would be it.

You’d feel for the lads still trying to train for it at this stage. What a waste of time.

Top notch

Someone threw this up on that Facebook group; anyone know what year it was?

I’d guess 82 or 83.

Tis a name you’d hear no more of down there, is there any offspring playing nowadays?

Only two of the brothers stayed around. Enda’s son is a lovely footballer but really struggled with knee injuries and spent 6 or 7 years in Australia. Played a bit of junior this year and was easily the best player for us in the games he played.

Cillian McDaid playing for Galway is one of them.
And Seamus Mangan with Kierans is one of them.
