Great win lads. For 40 minutes or so, we ripped them to shreds and it was as good a display of hurling as weâve ever produced. They werenât going to let Darren & Kyle walk all over them for goals, they learned from their defeat to Adare. We picked off the scores from outside instead; both wing-backs scored from play, Jack OâKeeffe hit 0-4 from wing-forward. Young CiarĂĄn Barry in his first adult Championship display was really good in the corner; we had eight different scorers in all, we moved the ball, worked the space.
We tired, we got very ragged, and it almost get very very nervy. Monaleen woke up and they fought their way back into it. Time was never on the side and they never got within 4. But the fact that they even got that far having been 12 up means that we have a huge amount to work on. Canât slip up like that in the final 15 against Adare, theyâll put us to bed.
But itâs the first part of the job done. Weâll be playing senior hurling in 2022. My ambitions were always much higher than that, but you have to do that part of the job first. Now weâve got a lovely shot at our neighbours next weekâŚ
