7 players who started tonight played against Garryspillane: Jack Mullane, Tony McCarthy, James Pomeroy, Conor Staff, Cathal Downes, Peter Nash & Darren O’Connell.

Liam O’Sullivan, Ryan Kelly & Dylan Corrigan who played tonight were on the bench for the senior hurlers; none were too far away from getting a game; Dylan would have been a regular starter for us previously. Lorcan O’Leary, who scored two goals tonight, couldn’t commit to hurling this year, he would have always been a starter for us.

Shaun Barry, Martin Nunan & Luke Guinane all played against Garryspillane and were on the bench for the footballers today. And obviously Chawkie is still starting in hurling, retired from football but was manager tonight.

There’d be a fair crossover in terms of total numbers training in both but 7 is less starters on both teams than it would have been a couple of years ago (if Kyle played football, he’d probably start; Chawkie used to start in both and Kevin O’Connell is away this year who would start in both).

Great win tbf.

Look, I’m sure there will be challenges that we will have to overcome next year and after.

But I just want to win everything I possibly I can while I can.

Robbie Bourke man marking Mike Mac.

10 minutes before the first score for Cian Sheehan, set up by Bryan Nix.

Very defensive stuff so far.

0-3 apiece at half-time; the last 10 minutes was way better but it’s been very dogged stuff so far. Very slow start but a bit more pace injected in the last 10.

Mike Mac has been NCW’s best player, Corbett not been great so far, Cian Sheehan & Bryan Nix have been decent too.

For Adare, Ronan Connolly has been their best player, Hugh Bourke has been quiet enough.

It’s very very low-scoring. 0-4 apiece at the water break.

What I will say is that there are some massive hits going in, couple of 50/50 calls getting people hot & bothered. A fair bit of intensity, a lot of hits on and off the ball.

Jamesie Kelly is definitely there for the taking if Adare can isolate him. Corbett has ran at the Adare defence once, I think, but Paul Maher hasn’t ran at NCW at all, the two are nullifying each other. A goal would kill this, I wouldn’t be surprised if this goes to extra-time, it’s been level 4 times.

NCW go two points up, Adare have two goal chances in a minute and score neither; NCW go down the other end and AJ O’Connor buries a goal!

NCW 1-8 Adare 0-5

Well-deserved win for NCW, very strong final quarter, AJ O’Connor kicked 1-1 from the bench which was huge.
