Limerick GAA 2022 - Dual Kings (Part 1)

finn hourigan was good that year, in 2016, is he still hurling with M/B?

About 50,000 of that on the football probably :joy:

He was a serious player, probably one of the standouts from that team. He had a bad hand injury which fucked him up, think he had to change his catching hand as a result.

Think he might be back now but that kind of injury can set you back a long way.

yeah he was a real standout. Looked to have all the right stuff too. Hopefully he can get back to where he was

Actually no, the football is quite well funded but they have fucked up the injury list now with astro training

Itā€™s a complete myth that Limerick Football isnā€™t well funded

well they should stop fucking funding it then

When you actually sit down and think about it, with your Corks, your Galways, your Dublins, your Tipperaries, your Clares*ā€¦ Itā€™s a wonder weā€™re able to compete at all with all these over-funded, financially doped behemoths andā€¦ andā€¦ make a profit. Almost unbelievable.

And, of course, smell the roses.

*Not regulated by the Central Bank.

Over ā‚¬370k raised off their own back via 3 fundraisers

But But But JPā€¦

Apparently, this does not include the recent fundraiser in New York by Club Limerick NY

Eddy Wiley is a great gael over there.

As a genuine question, was there any talk of changing the club name?

Weā€™ve won 3 all Irelandā€™s in 4 years. Thereā€™s nothing really that impressive about 370k.

Thereā€™s probably club teams around the country raising that sort of money.

Itā€™s vital to be out fundraising but letā€™s not fool ourselves if it wasnā€™t for mcmanus related donations weā€™d be in awful mess very quickly.

In fairness, Limerick raised an awful lot of money themselves through smaller donations and hard work before pj steamed in.

Thereā€™s plenty of other doners who donā€™t get any mention ever too.

Obviously in limerick itā€™s a needs must situation where the need to fundraise like other counties isnā€™t there due to Jp.

Around 2011/2012 I think club Tyrone was fundraising the bones off 400k and their senior team wouldnā€™t have been going too well at the time. The country wasnā€™t flying it either.

Not sure of their figures nowadays but it was some effort.

No not really. Whether that was right Iā€™m not sure.

itā€™s almost impossible to operate at the top table without sponsorship and funding. Supermacs, the insurance companies, Sports Direct, Teneo etc.

During a pandemic, itā€™s quite the opposite. Itā€™s fairly impressive.

It is impossible particularly now with the championship format too. More games mean extra costs.
