Na P get it done comfortably against K/P. 1-23 to 1-14
NAP ran out handy enough winners in the end. The Dow flapped at a 21 yard free late on but twas too late for KP. Not sure heâs an upgrade for them.
KP battled hard all over. But NAP had the wind in the second half and picked them off from distance. Twas death by a thousand cuts without NAP ever really opening them up.
NAP absolutely killed them on the heavy touches. Any touch that wasnt straight to hand they snaffled up straight away. The little burst after half time killed the game as a contest and NAP were happy enough to just keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Doesnât change a whole pile for KP itâs not a game they would have been targetting and Iâm sure they learned plenty.

Knockaderry 1-8 Croagh-Kilfinny 1-18
On an overcast but balmy evening at the Bog Garden, Croagh/Kilfinny started the brighter, with Brian Hannan and Cian OâCarroll (free) slotting early points. Knockaderry responded well to Croaghâs opening two scores, Enda Moran rounding his marker to set up Mike Molloy for an easy finish to the net past Cian Sheehy.
Croagh-Kilfinny, aided by a moderate breeze, seized the iniative from there with Brian Hannon, Gearoid Lenihan, Cian OâCarroll and Jack Lenihan all contributing to the scoreboard. Knockaderry played with #14 Mark Danaher deployed as a roving third man in midfield. Both him and Rob Egan went through a lot of ball in the first twenty minutes, however, Knockaderry were finding scores elusive to come by. The men in blue got to grips in the middle third towards the end of that first period, with James Lanigan coming to the fore, ably assisted by the ever-green Tom McMahon at #6. Both sides guilty of some wayward shooting, as Croagh-Kilfinny took a 0-12 to 1-3 lead at half time.
Croagh dominated the third quarter, against the breeze, winning it 1-5 to 0-2 - Croaghâs Gearoid Lenihan finishing to the net at the second attempt after MicheĂĄl OâSullivan had blocked Seamie Lenihanâs effort into his path. Brian Hannon, Jack Lenihan and Seamus Hickey in particular came alive in the second half - the ex Murroe-Boher man wearing #15, was deployed on the 45 after half time and it proved most effective, winning countless turnovers, high balls and setting up attacks. Croagh could even afford the luxury of failing to score for the final 13 minutes, hitting some uncharacteristic wides, but it mattered not as Knockaderry themselves could only muster 0-2 in that same period. Wayward shooting particular hurt Knockaderryâs cause after half time, as they began to go direct towards the end, reigning ball down on top of their inside line. C/Ks full back line stood tall, with Conor Lenihan the pick of the three Lenihanâs in that line for Croagh. A 21 yard free struck by Mark Danaher with seven minutes to go was blocked on the line and that summed up Knockaderryâs night, despite the best efforts of Kieran Storin at midfield who was behind every good thing Knockaderry did in the second period.
Knockaderry never threw the towel in, but some very wild shooting cost them, hitting 14 wides in total on the night to Croaghâs 8. Much of it, under fierce pressure from C/K backs as Croagh hunted in packs. Winning the free count was ultimately of little use to the men in green as they could not make it stick on the scoreboard.
C/Ks Cian OâCarroll top scored with 0-8 (0-6 F)
C/K werenât at their best tonight, and had Knockaderry the services of Tom Condon, who missed out through injury, it may have been a closer contest.
MOTM: Seamie Lenihan (Croagh/Kilfinny). Played tonightâs game as if his life depended on it. CKâs #5 won most of his tussles with his direct opponent Cormac Lyons, keeping him scoreless. Won countless amount of dirty ball and bombed forward at every opportunity, setting up Croaghâs goal in the process.
Death by a thousand cuts is right. NaP found it far easier to create scoring chances.
I think it was the first half that did for K/P really. Casey and Breen probably had about seven from play between them while Kyle was looking at the ball going over his head quite a bit. Not sure why K/P played him so deep with the wind when they were pucking the ball out as far as they could. He was far more influential in the second half when he was further up the field but they didnât create a huge amount close to goal particularly with OâConnell playing further out.
The newcomers are big positives for NaP, JJ Carey got on a load of ball and distributed it well. Vince Harrington and Wayne Kearns did well also and chipped in with a couple of points.
I was standing behind Natal OâGrady, he is a ball of energy but it seems very misdirected. He wouldnât be the first man to be frustrated with Johnny Murphy but he spent a significant proportion of the match roaring at him while Johnny was definitely neither the winning or losing of it.
Johnny rode KP in the first 25 minutes. Blatantly
Big result for G/B, a thumping 22 point defeat of Feohanagh in NCW.
A second comprehensive win in a week that all but secures their Nick Grene Sportsground intermediate status for 2024.
A very cagey opening 20 mins, scores few and far between. Game turned in a few minutes before half time, a quick fire 1-02 pushed the Knockfierna men 1-08 to 0-04 ahead. Even more damaging for Feohanagh their talisman, five time All-Ireland winner Sham Flanagan picked up a hamstring injury just before the break. With him went Feohanaghâs chances.
Another 1-01 right at the start of the second half ended the game as a contest. Wouldnât read much into the second half, Feohanagh knew the game was gone from them. They are much better than that.
G/B moving nicely, were missing a couple of players tonight too but looking sharp. Good spread of scorers, 1-26 put up last week and 3-21 tonight. Three or four good lads in their early 20âs to complement the veterans.
Murroe beat Kieranâs so Team G/B now head the table with the only 100% record.
G/B - 4pts
Feohanagh - 2pts
Knockainey - 2pts
Murroe Boher - 2pts
St Kieranâs - 2pts
Croom - 0pts.
In the other group, tournament favourites Croagh had a comfortable win over Knockaderry in another west limerick derby. Bruree saw off Kilmallock 2 by 9 points while the Pallastinians overcame H/H by 3 points.
Croagh - 4pts
Bruree - 4pts
Pallasgreen - 2pts
Knockaderry - 2pts.
H/H - 0pts.
Kilmallock 2 - 0pts.
Shaping up to be a cracking championship, five or six genuine title contenders in the mix.
Pints are calling.
Hayes was a lucky boy for a finish. He was gone pure dirt. Iâd say easily 4 yellow card moments and got none.
They needed two of him really. Trying to contain them at the back left NAP all the space to pick them off from distance
I didnât see it that way but regardless I donât think Johnny is the type to be influenced in a positive way by badgering from the sideline.
No ref is
@dodgy_keeper thinking of ways to play down raging hot favourites Ballingarryâs chances in Intermediate ChampionshipâŚâŚ.
In what way? Certainly didnât seem that way.
