NGSMCIHCG2R5 result.
G/B 2-24 Murroe Boher 0-19.
A dead rubber for both sides produced a harmless encounter, it was nip and tuck up to half time (0-12 each) before G/B kicked on after the break. A long range free from goalkeeper Denis OāConnor drifted all the way to the net to put some daylight between the sides while a second goal minutes later from a rebound - after Joe Quaidās young lad had made a brilliant save initially - ended it as a contest.
Big Paudie Mc was a superb target for puck outs in the furst half at wing forward. When he was shifted inside after the break they missed his ball winning ability out the field.
Another decent score put up by G/B but left a few more behind also. A semi final awaits this day fortnight.
Hurling on astro is an abomination. These two could meet again in a fortnight in a semi final and on grass itāll be like a different sport. M/B will face Bruree next weekend in a quarter final first, Bruree will be favourites but M/B are a Jekyll and Hyde outfit. An interesting game, that one.
Knockainey will face Hospital next weekend in the other quarter final. Hard to see anything other than a win for the All Blacks in that one.
Big win for double chasing Feenagh/Kilmeedy, overcoming Drom by 7 points in the first of the junior hurling quarter finals.
Theyāll take stopping.
Niall Mul point inside 15 seconds for Mungret. A fast start.
Adam English down in serious pain
Trying to play on but he canāt move, it doesnāt look like.
Perhaps it was just a twisted ankle for Adam, he has played on and while heās not moving 100% freely, he has reached top pace once or twice which you wouldnāt be able to do on a bad leg.
0-13 to 0-13 at half-time. Doon have had the breeze. Entertaining enough game.
Mungret have loads of pace and are running from all over the pitch and causing Doon problems when they do that, they seem to have the legs on them. But they donāt really have much of an outlet in the full-forward line, they are all dropping out the field and while Liam Lynch is winning a lot of ball, heās winning it very far from goal. They are taking on some stupid shots at times, too. Now, they have scored a few outrageous ones but a lot of wides from the touchline too.
Doon have had the two goal chances but Conor OāBrien made a good save from Adam English and Pat Simon hit the crossbar. Kevin Maher going very well, heās hit 0-3 from play and is carrying strongly.
Hard to call, maybe Doon have a bit more class.
An absolutely sensational goal from Adam.
He can barely walk but he can run.
What a player.
Mungret had no cap today
Doon 1-25 Mungret 0-21
Even after the goal, Mungret fought back but missed a few chances at crucial times.
Adam provided the match winning moment, out of nothing. Thatās what he offers.
Overall, Kevin Maher was probably their best player. Barry Murphy class, Eddie Stokes & Darragh Stapleton were very good too and generally solid at the back.
Fintan Fitz was good for Mungret, Barry Duff lively and Liam Lynch was always a threat. I thought BOM was quieter than he usually is.
Effin bruff DA & Blackrock the semi finalists of premier inter, not sure of the order but blackrock get through on H2H with Ncw
Patrickswell 1-11 Ballybrown 0-9 at HT.
The Well had the wind but havenāt been spectacular. Tom OāBrienās goal could prove crucial though, took it very well.
Coughlan has been the best player on the pitch by a mile, dominating.
Lynch peripheral and the Well havenāt been able to get enough ball into Gillane. But they have scored from out the field, both Byrnes & Evan Fitz have 2 each.
Be interesting to see how it pans out in the second, will Ballybrown be able to get scores from out the field with the wind at their back?
The Well might bring Gillane to HF to win puckouts second half.
Jordan Higgins got a couple of nice points early on but need him on the ball more.
Lynch gone to 11 and instantly gets a point.
Goal Luke OāConnor, lovely finish, well set up by Mikey Gavin
Only 1 in it now, Coughlan hooked with a goal on.
Well need to wake up.
Lynch goalā¦ the Well were under serious pressure.
South boys hooray!
The well win 4-17 to 1-17. Late goals from John Kirby and HOTY elect Gillane see them home. They finished it off well.
The famine is overā¦!
