Limerick GAA 2023 - League champions means nothing now 🐐

I still think he’s good enough and apparently he was only let go cause he couldn’t get a run injury free. With the young lads coming through his chance might be gone now. I expect he’ll absolutely light it up in the club championship.

He had a great club year last season, carrying the Na Piarsaigh attack, but I think that was his first appearance of the league from 8 games. If he can get fit, he’s surely good enough to be a panellist at least but those injuries are a concern. Na Piarsaigh will need him for Championship, you would think, he’s probably been your most consistent player over the past 5 seasons (if only because Casey has missed a fair bit).

Was unlucky when Covid hit, he was lifting in the 2020 league for Limerick before the bat-eating Chinayse put a stop to his gallop. Definitely think he would have something to offer, especially given other absentees.

So how are we set for Sunday?

Down to the bare bones in attack really, down 2-time HOTY Lynch, three time AI winner Peter Casey and Barry Murphy who was introduced in the final last year. Significantly weaker than we’d like but we’ll plough on, a fair achievement to get this far with so many absentees.

Good buzz around the place, Galway will surely bring a good crowd - they’ll never get a better chance to beat this injury ravaged Limerick team. The kids bullied them in ‘18 to stop an iconic two-in-a-row while they repeated the dose in 2020 on a day when the great Joe Canning - who we’d have savage respect for - got Hego’d.

If their ‘keeper has learned how to puck out the ball since then they’ll really fancy it. A lot of pressure to deliver when you bring in an expensive outside manager. We went local to win 3 in 4 years but fair play to Galway, the burger man must have deep pockets.

Should be a cracker, I might head up the Saturday and take in the other game too.

The money as come for St Kierans. 4/6 into 3/10

Football champ is a bit more open this year. Lots of teams with players missing I imagine, I’ve already heard of a few big county names gone across the Atlantic.

Bally x2 will be a close game, I feel Ballysteen will edge it. Claughaun and Galbally should be a good game too. Galbally have a good young core it will be interesting to see how they improve this year. Adare have pile of injuries and are usually thin as is so they might struggle this year. GG could turn them over. Monaleen and NCW will be a great game.

NCW and Abbeyfeale to make it to the final for a derby I reckon

When was the last time Casey’s even made a final?

Could be wrong, but it could be as far back as 09!

I’d have NCW, Adare & Monaleen a good bit ahead of them tbh.

Caseys have serious teams coming through, but there has been no signs so far of them capitalising on it

Perrinial underachievers. I’m presuming Danny Neville is gone back? Ballysteen could make a run at it if not, good crop of young fellas coming through.

They’ve them since early 2000s tho!

NCW and Adare the teams to beat again sadly.

NCW’s B team took care of Kierans handy in the league final by all accounts

I would say the 4/7 on NCW represents value.

NCW are missing a lot of last year’s starters. I think monaleen will beat them this weekend but NCW will eventually get them back and hard to see past them then

I’d say it was the time against Drom after the horror injury. A long time ago and a lot of underage medals between then. They are a joke shop. That said, maybe now that they’re also Intermediate they might actually take it seriously

Adare and Kierans will be favourites to come out of that group, so battle of the Ballys is key. Lose that and you are looking down rather than up. I don’t know much about KP and Adare are ahead of everyone else in the group (though a few would fancy a crack at them). But the other 4 would all fancy their chances against each other. Senior football is brilliant, very even.

You’d be thinking the other group is more clear cut, with Monaleen, NCW and Caseys the most likely top three.

4/6 would have been an absolute gift. 3/10 looks about right. They are going well, bar an apparently poor performance in the league final last week. They’ve gotten a few nice additions, plus the younger lads year older.

Massive game for Claughan and Galbally, both will be eyeing that as a must win. I’ve no idea how Claughan have been going, but Kierans fairly easily disposed of Galbally in the league semi.

Disgusted to miss the 4/6. You were supposed to flag it. Some of us have day jobs to attend to.

I have a spare (free) ticket for the Off The Ball Hurling Roadshow in Dolans Warehouse in Limerick tonight, show kicks off at 8pm. Semi finals previewed, guests include James Skehill, Paul Murphy and Joe Quaid.

Anyone interested PM me.
