Hard luck @Aristotle well done @ciarancareyshurlingarmy
Sounds like a real game of two halves
Ditto
Just back from Clarina.
Massive crowd, Iād to nearly park in Foynes and missed the first score of the game as a result.
A game of two halves. K/P looked the better outfit in the opening half, a better spread of scorers compared to Mungret who depended totally on Paul OāBrien from dead balls. In fairness he was unerring on them in that opening period.
Four time All-Ireland winner Kyle Hayes was a constant threat. Worked tirelessly, caught puck outs, won frees, forced turnovers, tracked back - he was excellent. Grabbed two brilliant scores in the that half, one of them after receiving a popped pass off the shoulder about forty yards out before rampaging through to bury to the back of the net. Sheer class. 1-08 to 0-06 at the short whistle.
The city outfit were a different animal on the resumption. They were exceptionally strong on their own puck out, terrific movement and the ball was inevitably played into space for an attacking player to run onto.
Duff and Barry began to get on a lot of ball & breaks at midfield while Niall Mulcahy was more prominent inside. OāBrien was the main man though and he conjured up a goal out of nothing, nipped in between two K/P defenders on the sideline before bursting through to find the net. Wasnāt much power on the shot, it may have taken a deflection, but there was still enough on it to beat the ageless John Chawke.
Suddenly it was back to a one point game, Jack OāKeeffe responded immediately with a white flag from the puck out to get it back out to two but Mungret had the momentum and took a foothold at the back, in particular.
At a point down the ever willing Mulcahy was dragged down for a penalty but Chawke came up with the save from POBās penalty but Brian OāMeara fired over the leveller from the subsequent passage of play.
Kyler was fighting a lone battle up front - he was to finish with 1-03 overall -, Darren OāConnell just couldnāt get into it while Barry OāConnell also had a quiet evening from general play.
With the game in the melting pot in the last 10 Mungret kicked for home. Impressive diminutive sub Conor OāHalloran had a superb cameo, landing two from play and bringing great energy. Cian OāBrien fired over the final score from out by the sideline to a huge roar from Reds supporters. A big result for them in the context of the group, disappointment for K/P but theyāll have a big say in this championship yet.
Among those in attendance were All-Ireland winners Barry Nash, Pat Simon, Malachy, Diarmuid Byrnes, Barry Murphy, Brian OāGrady and Colin Coughlan. An entertaining contest that was well refereed by Dave Deady.
Another feast of hurling tomorrow night and Sunday. Great to have club championship matches in summer. Long may it continue.
OāBrien is a lovely little hurler.
Very like Donal Burke of Dublin. Obviously doesnāt fit into Kinnerks demolition Derby.
Fixed
Another swipe from a Chipp man itās fascinating the interest ye take in our club championships
I like to keep an eye on any form of hurling. I remember going to Limerick county finals when ye were stone wall useless and they were good games.
Mungret subs made the difference.
KP looked short of depth in comparison.
Barry and Darren OāConnell had enough ball to narrowly win the game but they did notā¦
Kyle was awesome. A pleasure to watch him in action up close.
We are the guardians of the game so take a keen interest everywhere.
Ye are very insecure that we simply know more than ye about everything.
Yeāre greatest ever team doesnāt even rank in the top 3 āGreatest Sides of All Timeā (at a minimum) and yeāre best team of the modern era arenāt even in the conversation for the best team since the turn of the millennium. Guardians of the Game indeed.
Havenāt gone through to see if mentioned but Caherconlish, Hospital, Kilteely and Murroe all have some form of stand anyways.
When will you be publishing your weekly twee love note to Limerick hurling? #thismeansmore
Youre a pound shop Marty Morrissey who thinks heās Roy Curtis ffs
Youāve taken the news about the rubby players pending lawsuit and the death knell of the game very badly it seems.
No more soggy biscuit for you and the goys
Wow. Some pivot
Throw up 500 words there on the meaning of the beautiful game and what the three in a row means to the people of Limerick. There is an audience for it @thelimericks #thismeansmore
What was it that stung most in that post that really got you?
Was it the āAnd yetā¦not worth a fuckā line?
Was it that?
Why would that sting, its accurate? It just amuses me massively when a grown man entire personality is tied to the success of a team, like Roy Curtis
The irony, fuck me. Oh and as per itās the last thing at night and first thing in the morningā¦ in your heeeaaaad

Jesus the cork boy took a bateing here, did no one send out the klaxon?
Absolute nonsense.
If you seriously think that this current crop of robots from Limerick would beat a swashbuckling peak Tipperary side from 2009-2016 then i feel sorry for you.
