Going to predict K/P by 3 today and Monaleen by 10

Yes. There’s actually 3 adult teams in Doon.

Edit

Full time: Mungret 1-15 Kildimo/Pallaskenry 1-13

Big win for Mungret on first game up

That seemed to run away from K/P completely when they seemed to be in control of it.

Big win for Mungret

Any word on Monaleen v Cappamore?

Ya very strange not a thing on Twitter

Yep. I checked both club’s feeds and not a single update.

Monaleen 0-20 Cappamore 1-15

Hard luck @Aristotle well done @ciarancareyshurlingarmy

Sounds like a real game of two halves

Ditto

Just back from Clarina.

Massive crowd, I’d to nearly park in Foynes and missed the first score of the game as a result.

A game of two halves. K/P looked the better outfit in the opening half, a better spread of scorers compared to Mungret who depended totally on Paul O’Brien from dead balls. In fairness he was unerring on them in that opening period.

Four time All-Ireland winner Kyle Hayes was a constant threat. Worked tirelessly, caught puck outs, won frees, forced turnovers, tracked back - he was excellent. Grabbed two brilliant scores in the that half, one of them after receiving a popped pass off the shoulder about forty yards out before rampaging through to bury to the back of the net. Sheer class. 1-08 to 0-06 at the short whistle.

The city outfit were a different animal on the resumption. They were exceptionally strong on their own puck out, terrific movement and the ball was inevitably played into space for an attacking player to run onto.

Duff and Barry began to get on a lot of ball & breaks at midfield while Niall Mulcahy was more prominent inside. O’Brien was the main man though and he conjured up a goal out of nothing, nipped in between two K/P defenders on the sideline before bursting through to find the net. Wasn’t much power on the shot, it may have taken a deflection, but there was still enough on it to beat the ageless John Chawke.

Suddenly it was back to a one point game, Jack O’Keeffe responded immediately with a white flag from the puck out to get it back out to two but Mungret had the momentum and took a foothold at the back, in particular.

At a point down the ever willing Mulcahy was dragged down for a penalty but Chawke came up with the save from POB’s penalty but Brian O’Meara fired over the leveller from the subsequent passage of play.

Kyler was fighting a lone battle up front - he was to finish with 1-03 overall -, Darren O’Connell just couldn’t get into it while Barry O’Connell also had a quiet evening from general play.

With the game in the melting pot in the last 10 Mungret kicked for home. Impressive diminutive sub Conor O’Halloran had a superb cameo, landing two from play and bringing great energy. Cian O’Brien fired over the final score from out by the sideline to a huge roar from Reds supporters. A big result for them in the context of the group, disappointment for K/P but they’ll have a big say in this championship yet.

Among those in attendance were All-Ireland winners Barry Nash, Pat Simon, Malachy, Diarmuid Byrnes, Barry Murphy, Brian O’Grady and Colin Coughlan. An entertaining contest that was well refereed by Dave Deady.

Another feast of hurling tomorrow night and Sunday. Great to have club championship matches in summer. Long may it continue.

O’Brien is a lovely little hurler.

Very like Donal Burke of Dublin. Obviously doesn’t fit into Kinnerks demolition Derby.

Another swipe from a Chipp man it’s fascinating the interest ye take in our club championships

I like to keep an eye on any form of hurling. I remember going to Limerick county finals when ye were stone wall useless and they were good games.
