There was a couple of years where second teams won the junior, and the losers had to compete in Munster and they had no more interest after losing.
Croagh/Kilfinny would have been the strongest winners for a long time but no Munster that year. Tour did alright.
Standard isnât the worst, does vary from year to year alright. Cork junior does tend to be strong. If someone like Tour won it this year, Iâd say theyâd do alright in Munster where a St. Kieranâs probably wouldnât have, had they won last year.
The best one was last year in junior football, two second teams made it to the final and there had to be a 3rd place playoff between Mountcollins and Croom to go on to Munster, both of whom didnât have a shit about it
Of all of the West Junior clubs, you could only say football is no. 1 for St. Kierans, Rathkeale and Drom/Broadford. All the rest would be Hurling first clubs, theyâre just tiny remote areas with small populations.
And even at that there would be a lot of lads in both Rathkeale and Drom Broadford who would be Hurling first but have to follow the tide
POD went off injured early in the challenge we played them in which is why I was concerned he wouldnât be fit for the first two rounds. He had started very well too.
Jack was actually well held but is always dangerous. Tommy went on the frees after POD went off and got a couple from play too. Fergal OâConnor was excellent. Also, Ewan Dillon had a good game, as did Patrick Carroll (I think it was him).
Remember when Drom won the Junior hurling a few years back and the captain or manager said it was the best day in the clubs history. Caused a few ructions I think
Is there any video of that Junior final: Wasnât there a ball of controversy at the end over a free being given for a throw ball that ended up winning the game?
